Amara is committed to positive long-term outcomes for children and families. We drive systemic change, promote healing, and advance racial and LGBTQIA+ equity, by offering programs and services to families engaged in foster care, and to adoptees and families, post-adoption. Foster and Kinship Care Services
When kids enter foster care, we help keep them connected to their families by helping parents and caregivers to build a strong partnership that works together to best support child(ren) while in foster or kinship care. We license and prepare foster and kinship families, and provide individualized coaching and support. We are proud to offer our services to everyone, regardless of religious beliefs, gender identity, sexual orientation or expression, marital status, race, ethnicity, age, home ownership, income, or education so that we can better address the needs of children in foster care.
No family is perfect & every family can use a little boost every now & then. Our Family Support Services program offers families in Pierce County free support & resource navigation to promote the safety & wellbeing of kids & families.
Our goal is to build upon family strengths and increase access to resources to provide stability. Our approach creates collaborative partnerships between parents and peer navigators/certified peer counselors who have lived experience. Our parent mentors lead with compassion to help bring healing to families who are involved in, or who may be impacted by, the child welfare system in Pierce County. Thank you Microsoft for hosting a volunteer kick-off for the employee giving season & Microsoft GIVE! Microsoft staff decorated & filled wellness kits for kids & families. Amara serves kinship caregivers in North King County and East Pierce County so they have the resources and supports they need to help the kids in their care thrive. Whether it's helping with immediate needs, like car seats and school registration, or helping with connections to long-term resources, our team is here for kinship families.
