FUN PERSONAL FACT ABOUT ME: I have synesthesia.

For those of you who don’t know what synesthesia is, it is neurological condition where one sense or cognitive pathway causes an involuntary, automatic experience in another sense. Essentially some of my wires are crossed.

This was a challenge for me in school b/c I didn’t know I had it, what was going on, or how to manage it. I didn’t know how my brain functioned and therefore things and people and places would just (seemingly) disappear. Until one day in college I learned about what synesthesia was and all the different versions of it were.

In a unique mediation, I was acknowledging the people in my life, letting them come and go from my mind, and noticed that they didn’t appear as pictures of themselves (like portraits or photos) but as these brick-ish shapes. And thus began a weird journey and understanding myself at a different level. Memories started to stick longer, my grades went way up, I started to excel in my art classes, and most importantly I started using my synesthesia as a super power.

So each slide in this post are renderings of people in my life … these are like flash cards that appear in my mind when I think of these people. The colors change from time to time. The shapes remain generally the same. The people and the memories of them now stick.

I always wonder if when a player like Castle emerges in the league, if all the veterans talk about him in the chat - like as if to say - look out for this dude. If they didn’t before, they are now.

Stat line be damned, he was out for blood with this one. And you know he’s going to come back stronger in game 3.

The crazy part is RJ knew it was going in - he said he saw it bounce straight up and had a flash to the Hali shot last year. Straight up, straight down, all net. Is there anything better than playoff basketball? The answer is no.

The NBA is filled with characters. It has Kings, Mambas, Reapers, Doctors, Unicorns, and Magicians. It’s a story told through the air. And now, the story’s new character, an Alien, looks to write a new story. Can he over take the Thunder Storm ahead?
