OPEIU 8 is a progressive, democratically run union working for social/economic justice since 1945.
OPEIU Local 8 is a progressive, democratically run union representing over 7,000 members all over Washington who work in many settings including offices, hospitals, clinics, social services, housing, home care, credit unions, the insurance industry, and the public sector. The OPEIU Local 8 page was created to present matters of interest to our members and the community in general. We respectfully ask everyone to honor the following guidelines when commenting on this page.

Holding strong at Sea Mar 💛 Did you get your window sign yet?
Thank you to Sara J., Becci G., and Bailey L. for your help spreading the word!
As we shared our stories of struggle at the last bargaining session, Sea Mar Management stayed silent. We discussed the impact of our low wages; how many families are struggling to afford food; how we don’t have savings. Many of us are one emergency away from homelessness. Management can’t keep asking Sea Mar staff to choose between their job and supporting themselves/their families.
But they continue to do it anyway. Management is holding to a 3% COLA increase. We know it’s not enough, and we won’t settle.
In the words of D’Angelo, the “question ain’t do we have resources to rebuild - it’s do we have the will?”
