We hear a version of this in almost every intake call: I know what to do, I just can't seem to make myself do it.
That's not a motivation gap. It's a design gap. Most people already have good strategies sitting around unused, because the strategy was built for their best possible day instead of an actual gray Tuesday when the rain's coming sideways off the Sound and your brain has other plans.
The goal was never a system that only works when you're rested and uninterrupted. It's supports built for your real brain, real body, and your real life here in Seattle.

You’re not failing to remember a reasonable handful of things. You’re carrying more people, systems, contexts, and unfinished handoffs than active memory was designed to hold. The answer isn’t trying harder to hold everything—it’s building external support that preserves context and brings the right thing back at the right time.

Yep, I'm MIA again. Grief did something I didn't expect. It didn't just make me sad. It rerouted my dopamine somewhere I can't seem to find right now. The tasks I used to move through without thinking suddenly need a full-body negotiation. Here's what I keep reminding myself, and maybe you need it too: this isn't a lack of discipline. My nervous system is busy processing something huge, and it doesn't have spare capacity for the normal Tuesday stuff on top of it.

You have a brilliant, fast-processing mind.
Your ideas arrive vivid and urgent, ready to be born—but the moment you sit down to write, something shifts. You know exactly what you want to say, yet the words won't come. The gap between vision and page feels impossible.
Sometmies, this isn't a creative block. It's an initiation problem. An executive functioning friction that has nothing to do with your talent or capacity. By building custom scaffolds that support task initiation and focus, we can turn that stuck silence into resourceful momentum.

You're sitting at your desk Monday morning, and the mental bandwidth meter is already in the red. Not because of the work itself—but because your attention is being fractured by a thousand small demands that aren't even yours. Spam. Phishing. People trying to sell you things.
TLDR
Recently, the amount of spam email and text messages has exploded. I’m sure some of it is AI scraping but given my already disorganized processing from grief, this is a terrible time to add a new mental burden.
Some are a semi-legitimmate ask for evaluate my product.
Others are people trying to sell me stuff or market their services.
Some are straight up phishing or social engineering type asks.
One thing i’ve seen someone else do is add a “no solicitations” link on their Linkedin profile. Do I think it works? Probably minimally, but ti feels like making something tangible happen when little else is in my control.
In dealing with the overwhelm, too, I thought I blocked a colleague in a work/group/remote team chat. That caused a panic as I need those texts. And for the record Zoom phone sucks as a sms-chat client.
No, I’m not changing. I’ve investigated lots of options that all have cost or reason that this is still the best option for now.
But it does add more mental load when I try to use the tools and make errors due to already compressed bandwidth. And it’s only Monday.

You're staring at your notebook at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday, and you can't remember what you opened it to do.
If you're between 35 and 60, this isn't your imagination—and it isn't dementia. Hormonal shifts in midlife have a direct, documented impact on executive function. Your brain feels like soup. Your focus feels like wandering through the mist of your own daily schedule.
This is your nervous system operating under a new set of biological rules. Not a moral failing. Not permanent.
The good news? You can build practical scaffolds that work with your real biology, not against it. Let's navigate this transition with clarity instead of confusion.
Ready to understand what's actually happening in your brain—and what to do about it? Let's talk.

One step today is enough.

Some weeks, the world stops. Full stop. No progress to report, no milestones hit, just the sudden, heavy realization that your nervous system has reached its limit. But sometimes, the most resourceful thing you can do is acknowledge the friction and let the gears halt.
