I’ve barely made any art this year (and that’s ok). I have been through big transitional changes, pouring all my energy into work and survival, and my creativity into things like decorating my new apartment. The coolest thing I’ve made this year was my Halloween look based on Junji Ito’s classic horror manga Uzumaki. My next project will be a cactus mug I got at a ceramic painting place that I didn’t finish, so I washed off the progress and bought some glazes to paint it at home and take my time. Just before Christmas, I had yet another surgery to help with my chronic pain. I made the choice to do this even though it was scary, knowing it would be at least somewhat traumatic for me to go through. Now I am very relieved it’s done, even though I’m still recovering and the hard part’s not quite over yet. Ironically I never intended to show anyone drawings from my journal. But here we are on social media. Times have been hard lately for many people, artists included. My way of resistance to the fakeness, the lack of empathy, the cruelty and artificiality of it all, is to try to be as real and vulnerable as possible in my life. Keep making art, make “bad” art, make silly art, build things with your hands and get paint and dirt on your clothes. Go out and experience nature in person, pet a dog, make real connections with real people, build memories that aren’t documented with photos, go to a gallery or see a live performance. I have always made things for myself, not for attention, praise, or money. I separated my creativity and my career for a reason, although I still have an art adjacent job, because I can’t force myself to commit most of my time to something I hate doing. I hope to be able to create more in the future, but I need rest for now. Healing is messy sometimes. Healing can hurt sometimes. I am still healing. 🌒🌱 01/01/2026

I don’t use this page much since it seems it’s been limited for showing art of human bodies. Here’s my Instagram (still Meta so not much better but I do share more there): 💕
