Today is National Police Woman Day, a chance to celebrate the incredible women who work at the Seattle Police Department. The work these officers do is invaluable. Thank you for all you do serving and protecting our community.

Interim Chief Andre Sayles joined a team from the Seattle Police Department, the Seattle Fire Department, and Seattle Center to raise the American flag this morning in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago. May we never forget what our fellow Americans, our fellow first responders, or our world endured on September 11th, 2001.

Please join us tomorrow for this month’s “Our City, Our Safety Meeting.” The meeting will take place at the Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave East, from 6-7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to have an open discussion with SPD officers about community safety

The Seattle Police Department would like to thank our friends at the Seattle Mariners for including us in a moving ceremony honoring the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Today, SPD joined public safety colleagues at T-Mobile Park to unveil “Legacy Plaza.” The plaza features a statue depicting former players Mike Cameron and Mark McLemore raising the American flag following the Mariners' American League West title-clinching victory on Sept. 19, 2001. Thanks to these baseball legends for taking a photo with some of our SPD team members and fellow first responders.

It's cloudy, kids are back in school, and today just feels like a day where we all need this. Here are a bunch of puppies and kitties we helped find forever homes last weekend. Head over to the Seattle Animal Shelter and pick up your own companion.
