About the show: In Millennial Dance Complex, choreographers and performers Sara Caplan and Anja Kellner-Rogers investigate the myth of the professional dancer through the lens of millennial dance culture. Moving between the polished fantasy of professional dance life and the messy reality of living inside of it, the work plays with cultural tropes that take on new meaning with experience and age. What happens when the training montage never ends? When the body changes? When the dream of being a dancer collides with the actual life of being one? Through competition and camaraderie, humor and earnestness, striving and acceptance, the dancers confront the distance between the dancer they were taught to become and the dancers they are becoming.
