Story from behind the scenes: Before I met my client, she had interviewed three other real estate agents. Each told her the same thing: her home was worth around $700,000, and her best option was to sell it to a developer.

Home, townhome, or condo? Which one actually fits your lifestyle?

They aren’t simply three versions of the same purchase. You’re choosing how much privacy, maintenance, control, and shared responsibility you want.

🏠 A single-family home generally gives you the most independence, but you’re responsible for the home, systems, exterior, and yard.

🏘️ A townhome can offer a middle ground: less exterior upkeep in some communities, but shared walls and possible HOA rules or dues.

🏙️ A condo often provides lower-maintenance living, but the building, land and common areas are jointly managed through the HOA.

The biggest mistake? Comparing only purchase prices.

Before buying, also compare HOA dues, reserve funds, insurance responsibilities, potential special assessments, rental restrictions, parking, pet rules, and what maintenance is actually included.
