It was indeed an honour, as Minister of Labour Relation and Workplace Safety to join the 2026 ISSA Mining Conference in Saskatchewan.

Saskatoon is a fitting place for an international conversation about the future of mining and occupational health and safety.

Saskatchewan is blessed with world-class resources and is becoming an increasingly important supplier of the critical minerals needed for our economy and energy future.

But our greatest resource is our people. Every worker deserves to return home safe and healthy at the end of every shift.

I’m proud to highlight the launch of the SASK WORK Initiative, a five-year partnership bringing research, technology and real-world data into Saskatchewan workplaces to help prevent injuries and improve worker safety.

Through innovation, collaboration and a strong commitment to safety, we can build a stronger future for Saskatchewan mining.

Through the School Playground Equipment Grant Program, our government is helping school communities create spaces that support healthy, active lifestyles and strengthen connections among students, families and neighbourhoods. We are pleased to continue this investment and look forward to seeing more projects take shape in communities across Saskatchewan.

It was an honour to bring greetings on behalf of Premier Scott Moe and Minister Responsible for SGI Jeremy Harrison at today’s event recognizing those working to make Saskatchewan roads safer.

A heartfelt thank you to Lou, Linda Van de Vorst and the entire Van de Vorst family for your courage, leadership and unwavering commitment to keeping the conversation about impaired driving at the forefront.

As always, we were joined by Bonny and Craig Stevenson, who have also experienced unimaginable loss. Their tireless work alongside the Van de Vorst family and MADD Canada helps raise awareness, promote prevention and ensure we never lose sight of the devastating impact of impaired driving.

Thank you to MADD Canada and our law enforcement partners for your continued dedication to education, prevention and enforcement.

Always a pleasure to see former colleague, the Honourable Joe Hargrave who was and is a passionate advocate for MADD, along with Zach Jeffries, City Councillor.

Congratulations to this year’s award recipients. Together, we can continue working toward a Saskatchewan where everyone arrives home safely.
