Skihawks Racing

The SKIHAWKS Racing Team, founded in 1982, is a 501(c)3 organization that provides training and racing opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities in the alpine, nordic, and snowboarding winter sports disciplines. We train with “Outdoors for All” and compete in local and state races with Washington Special Olympics. The team is comprised of 75 athletes, 80+ coaches and enumerable volunteers from their families and friends. Although the program’s roots have been primarily at providing a chance to enjoy success in winter sports and learn team pride and sportsmanship, it has developed into a year round program with many social benefits. Because the SKIHAWKS are an independent team and not sponsored by a school or parks department, they are not eligible for special program funds. We depend on support from the community for the continued success of the program.
