A photo and the highlights (chaos?) behind it
The 2026 Monterey shootout was my first photo contest and whoa: what a learning curve
The level of collaboration made this a blast. I went in uninspired and intimidated and now on the other side of it, I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. It was incredibly refreshing to create among a group of individuals who take their work seriously and know how to have fun at the same time
Very grateful for Madison McKay, Ariella Simke Dayna K Brown 包黛娜 (Atomic) Joe Platko Anne Louise Brabyn Sage Ono Pat Webster Keith Kirkpatrick and Ian Ferguson in no particular order for their friendship, loner gear, and encouragement
And big thanks to Backscatter UW Video & Photo for hosting! Excited to have placed first in Imtermediate wide angle traditional and I look forward to challenging myself again next year

Next time you look at the Space Needle I hope you think of the thousands of sea pens just offshore and believe in yourself.
