The Works Seattle
We believe in making people happy! The Works is a community of makers passionate about providing you
Move your shop, they said. It’ll be great, they said. While your 7-year-old twins are home for summer, they said.
I’ve never been so tired. 😂 But it’s happening, friends. It’s all happening. The new shop is going to knock your socks off (mine too). If you want to be part of it, in exchange for some really great rewards, check out our fundraiser. The link is in our bio.

Omg you guys! These pics are from a customer who bought our Cyanotype Socks Kit and took the leftover materials and made shorts. Shorts!! I am obsessed. How about you?
I made you a bouquet. Happy Sunday. 🩷
The Maker Bar menu is starting to come together!! Eventually (when we open in West Seattle), we’ll have a full evergreen menu as well as a rotating collection of seasonal topics (cemeterraiums anyone?).
As we keep chipping away on development, Floating Floralscapes and Slate Etched Coasters are both available now.
In case you don’t know, at Maker Bar, you can drop in, pick a project, and make at your own pace. Everything is provided, no experience is needed, and kids and families are welcome.
Maker Bar is open Thursdays 3-8pm and Sundays 11am-4pm. You can reserve a spot in advance or just show up. Our last day for Maker Bar in Fremont is August 23rd. Come make something spontaneous with us before we head to West Seattle (where we’ll be open five days a week!).
I’m obsessed! This chandelier (and five others, just like it) is going in the new West Seattle space… above the Maker Bar. It’s getting real!!
We’re at $13,850 toward the $50,000 we need to finish the buildout. The fun stuff is starting to arrive. The unglamorous stuff (asbestos removal, ADA bathroom, HVAC) is what we’re still fundraising for. If you want to support (and get one of these rad hoodies!), every dollar counts.
P.S. On a scale of 1 to 10, how cringe is this unboxing video? (it’s my first ever, filmed in selfie mode after my kids went to bed)
P.P.S. Thank you to my husband for his endless patience with the giant boxes taking up half our living room. 😘
Meet our Pixel Printing Kit. Based on our best-selling class, it comes with everything you need: tiles, baseplate, ink pads, colored paper, washi tape, and a full guide that walks you through everything from basic prints to multi-color layering and drop shadow effects. It’s $45 and we ship to all 50 states. Perfect for creative adults and bored kids on summer break. Link in bio!
A few years ago, a couple got engaged in our studio. This week they came back to celebrate their one year anniversary!!
I don’t have words for how amazing it is to be a part of their story. We make stuff, yes, but we also make memories. And we can’t wait to keep doing this in West Seattle.
Do you have a favorite memory from a time at The Works? I’d love to hear it!
Three days at West Seattle Summer Fest. The excitement in this neighborhood is real. I felt it all weekend.
Thank you to everyone who came out, made something, or just stopped to say hi and share your support. It genuinely means the world. I am tired but my cup is so full.
We’re at $13,350 toward the $50,000 we need to make the West Seattle space real. Every dollar is already in motion. If you’ve been on the fence about backing us, this is the moment. The link is in our bio.
Now I’ll ask you the same question I asked my kids, which is… what was your favorite part of Summer Fest this weekend?
