Seattle psych folk band, Forest Ray, began as a recording project in 2015, combining guitar driven psych rock with elements of garage rock, folk rock and organ-laden pop. They've been described as "Brit-pop gone country" or as "..The Band covering Beatles songs no one knew existed.” (Tony Kay, Washington's Artist Home blog). The group's sound has evolved into spaced-out, down to earth rock n' roll, that feels “like a perfect companion for a long dusty road trip” (KEXP, Chris Sanley)

Their first two full length LPs, Musical Witchcraft and Laughing, were released to vinyl over 2016-18. They toured the US and played SXSW 2019 in support of their 7'' split record with Lasso Spells, released Spring 2019 on Nashville's Cold Lunch Recordings label. In the fall of 2019, they released a new LP, Faded Reflection along with a collection of basement recorded analog tracks titled, the "Wedgwood Tapes': Before the COVID-19 pandemic struck the group had also recorded their fourth studio album, "Black Pine", during the winter of 2019 to be released in the fall of 2020. The album, which is an homage to lost loved ones, includes an array of twangy psychedelia, Americana influences and more of a diverse sound than previous records. Black Pine, borrows it's name from the english translation of "Crnobor': the autochthonous trees of the Croatian coastal region, Dalmatia, where songwriter Peter Sumic's family immigrated from, which served as a source of nostalgia and inspiration in the album's songwriting process. During 2021, they released a follow up of home recorded oddities and popular favorites, in a sequel to "Wedgewood Tapes". In October 2022, they released their fifth full length album, "Always" with the title track being released as a single on January 21st, 2022. "Always" dives further into folk rock instrumentation and psychedelic folk rock influences, and features slide guitar much more prominently. They played over 75 shows in 2022 across the United States and toured Canada with Vinyl Williams in the spring of 2023. Their sixth studio album, Windf**ker, was released in January 2024 after they completed their first European tour through six countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland) over five weeks.

There’s no feeling quite like being home, especially when home is 6,000 miles away from where you live and your roots have been planted in the same place for 1,000 years.
Walking around with old friends, looking out at the same sea, I can’t help but have this melody playing in my head. Čista nostalgija.
It’s that feeling that gave birth to “Beams,” written with my friend Bojan.

Some songs take months or years to figure out. This one just sort of happened.
After our first European tour, Bojan and I started getting together whenever we could to write and play music. We’d throw ideas around, record things, and see what stuck. “Beams” was one of the songs that came out of that.
There’s another reason this one feels especially meaningful to me. After Bojan and I became friends and started playing together, we found out that our grandparents had actually been friends back in the day.
I brought this song home to Seattle, tracked it to tape, and eventually made it with the band. What started as a really simple song became something much bigger, with harmonizing harmonica, banjos, dueling DI fuzz guitars, and a big twangy guitar solo.
“Beams” is out everywhere now.

NEW SINGLE “Beams” out 8/20!
After most of our European tours, and often beforehand when I’m in Croatia, my friend Bojan Divić Žeravićin and I like to get together to workshop songs and chase ideas. This one came together especially fast most of it was written and recorded in an afternoon at his home studio after our first EU tour.
Bojan lives just down the D8 from me in Croatia, and whenever we find time to jam and make music together, it’s always a blast. It’s a really important musical friendship to me, and I can’t wait to be back home doing some more picking by the sea.
I brought the song home with me to Seattle, tracked it to tape, and eventually brought the band in to make it part of the new record. There’s a lot of sonic experimentation in this one that I love: harmonizing harmonica, dueling DI fuzz guitars, banjos, and a big twangy guitar solo.
