I make Swedish/Leksand band looms, related equipment, and accessories. I also make hair sticks. Building is on hold till I get my new shop set up.

New house, new shop.

I’ve had several questions about when I will start making looms again. I need to update my catalog as I have several additions and updates that need to be included. I will take orders in November. I’m excited to get back to making looms again.

Day two of Leksand Bandweaving at North House Folk School. We finished weaving our plain weave bands and learned to wind the warp for a “simple” seven pattern thread band. Seven pattern threads, and 34 warp or ground threads. The technique was a revelation for me as I’ve only ever done it by half-understood verbal direction. The woven bands here are done by one of the students.

What a wonderful day learning about the history of the Leksand band patterns, the clothes they were used with, and, most important, how to warp and weave a simple band.

Tomorrow we add the rigid heddles and dig into the more complex technique of warping and weaving the traditional pickup bands. Can’t wait!

I’m pretty pleased that Kirsi’s suitcase loom does what it’s supposed to do.

All nine looms are finished. Packed up with two of my own and we are off to meet Kirsi in Grand Marais this Saturday.

Fitting the rigid heddle on the first loom. Everything lines up exactly where it’s supposed to. It’s coming together.

Here’s the latest loom, made for Kirsi Manni, the teacher of the class. She asked for a Leksand loom that will break down and fit in a suitcase. And it will. The longest piece is 21.5” or 55 cm.

I’ve made huge progress since my last post. Here’s eight looms assembled with spools and pegs. Still need the treadles and risers. The foot pedals are done. It’s coming together quickly now.

Hi All. Sorry to be absent for so long. I’m in the process of building a new wood shop. (Bought a new house) It’s taking longer than planned. Hope to get the shop together by this summer (2026) and will let everyone know when I’m back up and running.
