We got through two practice sessions today here at Indy, and that wraps up day one.

Sam will qualify the car tomorrow morning, then we go racing at 2:15 PM ET.

There are racetracks in America. There are historic racetracks. And then there’s Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been part of American motorsports for more than a century. This place has seen just about every era of racing, and some of the biggest names in the sport have competed here.

There aren’t many tracks in the world where the name alone says enough. Indy is one of them.

You know the history when you drive through the gates. You see the grandstands, you cross the Brickyard, and no matter how many racetracks you’ve been to, this one is different.

And I’ve made some pretty good memories here myself. Especially during a three-year stretch from 2020 through 2022.

Three years, three class wins.

The first one came in GT4 in 2020. We came back the following year and did it again in GT4. Then in 2022, the race had moved to GT3, and we made it three in a row.
Different cars, different classes, three straight years with the same result.

A win at Indianapolis is one you want on your record. Three in a row? Yeah, I’ll take that.

Now we’re back at the Brickyard with IMSA this week.
Time to see what we can do here this time.

It’s race week in Indianapolis. 🏁

Two races left in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, and this week we’re heading to one of the biggest places we race all year: Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Indy and I have had some pretty good moments together, including three wins. Hopefully we’re not done making them yet.

Next stop: the Brickyard. 🧱🏁

VIR — AND ONLY ONE WAY TO GO: FORWARD

Three laps. That’s all I was able to get in during our first practice session before the weather took over at VIR. Losing most of that session meant less track time to prepare for the weekend.

When we finally got the chance to race, we had some work to do. Starting from deep in the field, there was only one direction to go: forward.

Lap by lap, we worked our way cleanly through the pack. We kept gaining ground, kept closing the gap, and by the closing stages of the race I was nose-to-tail with the lead group.

Then came a late yellow: Another opportunity.
When we went back to green, I made up three more positions and was ready to keep going. Then the yellow came out again and sometimes you just run out of laps.

When the checkered flag dropped, we had gained more than eight positions from where we started and within striking distance to the leading group.

We took the opportunities when they came, kept ourselves in the fight and never stopped moving toward the front. The finishing position may be what goes into the record books. It doesn’t always tell the story of the race.

That's what I'm taking away from VIR.
