September 28th marks St Wenceslaus Day, which observes the death of the Duke of Wenceslaus. Historically, one of the large pockets of Czech immigrants moved to the New Prague area - so today we are sharing some photos of today's namesake church. The church (and school) have a long history and are still active today.

The aerial view was taken (according to the notes in the file) circa 1935-1940.
The interior photo was taken by George Mikiska in 2002.

Today is Food Service Workers Day. While this day of appreciation applies to those who work in all realms of food service, we thought we would share some of LeRoy Lebens photos from the Shakopee High School yearbooks of some of the food service workers from the schools. The top photo is from the 1964 yearbook and the bottom one is from the 1958 yearbook.

It might by getting closer to winter but apparently it's National Ice Cream Cone day. Are you more of a waffle cone, cake cone, or sugar cone fan? Here are a few spots you might be able to grab one over the years....do you remember any others?

Our annual SCHS field trip will be Monday October 19th. We will be checking out the former Mudbaden Sulphur Springs property (now the SCALE training facility) in Jordan. We will be meeting there at 10:00am for a guided tour. If you're a current SCHS member, please RSVP with Lindsay by October 8th so we can provide an accurate group number.

September 13th is National Grandparents Day so we pulled a few photos from our collection marked "Grandma" or "Grandpa". Here we have Mary Deusterman and three grandchildren, "Grandma Moore" (in the black dress with ruffled collar) and "Grandma Turner" with the white collar looking down. Grandpa Louis Breuer (black and white) and Grandpa Conilly (smoking a pipe).
