MEET THE CAST of And a Nightingale Sang -

We sat down with our cast and crew to get some of their thoughts about the show.

AMBER HUNTER (Peggy):

What do you love/like the most about your character?
I love that she loves her family despite how dysfunctional they are. Even though George drives her crazy and ignores her needs, when the sirens sound, she wants to make sure he’s safe and stays by her side. Even though her father and her daughters do things that frustrate and disappoint her, she loves them. She’s an endearing and lovable character, who’s family means everything to her and that’s definitely something I can relate to.

What is the best or funniest rehearsal moment so far?
The bomb shelter scene is the funniest to me for sure! The times when we’ve had slip ups and Helen has told Da to sit down, and he’s already sitting.. Anytime that George sings!.. Also the scene where I duck under the table..Just to name a few! Every rehearsal we have is full of fun moments!

What do you hope the audience will take away from the show?
I hope that hearts are changed in a very special way when they leave the theatre. I hope that they take with them a heart that loves unconditionally.. a heart of forgiveness and acceptance for what they cannot change and gratitude for the people they have in their lives and for the circumstances in which they live.

Why should people come to see it?
People should come to the show because it’s a beautiful story of a family struggling to keep things together in the midst of a war. It has heartwarming moments and hysterical moments. I love this show and I truly think the audience will love it too!

What did an ordinary day look like during World War II?

📻 The radio was the connection to the outside world. They gathered around to hear news, government announcements, and updates that could change everything in an instant

🚨 Then came the air raid sirens. Lights went out. Windows were covered. They moved to shelters or the safest parts of their homes, waiting and listening in fear and uncertainty.

📕 And there were ration books. Sugar, meat, butter, fruits, gasoline, clothing and other goods were limited. Families learned to make do, stretch what they had, and save what they could.

And yet…

People still fell in love.
They argued.
They laughed.
They went to work.
They listened to the radio.
They danced.

Step into the world of And a Nightingale Sang.

Set in England during World War II, we're invited into the lives of an ordinary family living through extraordinary circumstances. Against the backdrop of air raids, rationing, news from the front and an uncertain future, life continues—with all of its humor, heartbreak, complications and unexpected moments of joy.

History tells us what happened.
Theatre lets us experience what it felt like.

🎭 Come step into 1940s England with us.
