Sheffield Police Department

So there has been alot of confusion on how bringing dispatch back in house is going to work. Let us clarify. If you have a police emergency you need to call 256-383-1771. If it is a not an emergency than call 256-386-5630. We are asking the citizens to save numbers as emergency and non emergency. It is okay to still call 911, but there will be a delay because it will be transferred back to us. When you use to call 256-386-5630, we would tell you to hang up and call 911 because they dispatched the calls. For fire and medical, you will still call 911 to be dispatched. We hope this explains how Sheffield Police will respond in the future. We want the fastest response possible for our citizens when seconds count.

We are back up and running our dispatch. Sheffield Police would like to thank everyone involved. First, we would like to thank the city council and mayor for voting to bring this back in house. We would like to thank Southern Software for their work in getting us up and running. Thanks to ICS for handling all our computer related issues. Thanks to the Granite Gallery for their donation of new counter tops. We also like to thank P &G Construction for the last minute doors. We are glad to be back to serve the citizens and businesses of Sheffield. If you need an officer dispatched call 256-383-1771. Call 256-386-5630 for all other police related matters.

Sheffield Police Department wants to let the Risner family know that we will never forget the sacrifice that Nick gave that day. You will always be in our hearts and prayers.

Sheffield Police would to thank everyone involved in assisting us with the fire today. Thanks to Sheffield Fire, Tuscumbia Fire, Colbert EMA and Muscle Shoals Police Department. This could have turned into a very bad situation, but thanks to quick actions from these agencies we were able to get some residents to safer zones while fire were able to concentrate at the task at hand. Thanks again to everyone involved.
