Hi, I'm Kathy and along with my husband, we raise Reg. Nigerian dwarf goats. I milk them for making soap & our son shows in FFA.

We are in the process of learning and breeding for quality show goats. Etsy shop: https://mkfamilygoatmilksoap.etsy.com

Here we have twin sisters.
They belong to:

Merrytale PP Silver Tuppence X
HNDF J.C. Rusty Cage

These girls are slow growers. The light buckskin girl recently hit a growth spurt, while the silver girl is still very small. Both these girls are about 10 lbs or more lighter than the other girls their age. Not every herd has the space or the time. To allow a slow maturing line to grow. While I wouldn't want an entire herd of slow growers. I'm fine with these two girls sticking around until spring. Haven't decided if they'll stay or not. But it will give me a piece of mine. Knowing that here with me: 1 they won't get bred and 2 they get the diet needed to simply grow. Silvy and Bella are the sweetest girls you'll ever meet.

Change of plans, haha that's just what we do around here. This coming Saturday is a FFA youth show. We're going to take Ember (Pictured below taken today) and then Peanut for showmanship. Then the following weekend. We've decided to go to a sanctioned ADGA show. I've been back and fourth on the fence about going. Mostly, because it's a bit of a drive. I think we're going to take Macchiato, Eira and Cookie. Macchiato just really seemed to enjoy traveling. I think it's cuz she got a lot of extra snuggle time. We do really enjoy the big ADGA shows. Even though we don't really place well. It's more for the experience and talking with goat people from the big herds. I've learned so much at these shows. They're also a lot of fun.

As we head into breeding season. We'll start breeding on the girls next heat cycle. I'd like to reintroduce the two new herdsire's. On my website, under the Breeding Plans tab, you can check out each pairing and view the planned pedigree. Each boy has his own strength and is paired with each doe in hopes the genetics smash well together.
* Southern Grace Kodiak Ice- Is being paired with doe's that are fined-boned or narrow doe's or that need more chest capacity, & bone width.
* Southern Grace Chasin Tornadoes- Is being paired with doe's that are compact, deep-bodied doe's to add body length or need added dairyness or need udder height.
Reservations on any pairings are open and free. I plan to retain several this coming year. In the spring, after kidding, we'll have a few doe's in milk, some with kids. Come available.

Today was a fun day! We took three girls. Peanut was for showmanship, which he won 2nd place. And to much surprise, Macchiato got 1st in class and then won Breed Champion. Judge said she is a little powerhouse! She has been forgiven for being a little turd. And well be attending next weekends show.

We're currently on lunch break. Just completed the showmanship clinic and the showmanship show. Tanner with Peanut placed 2nd. He did so good and has learned so much.

The smells of fall. With only having 2 young bucks. You'd think it wouldn't be that bad. Think again. Southern Grace Chasin Tornados here, his face is usually white with black. He has perfected his cologne for the ladies. No need for a beard. He just applies it straight to his face. Breeding begins in about 20 days or so. 🤢

I guess my knee cap makes a good chin rest. Sweet Runa just hanging out.

The next to attend a show. Have been given their show cuts. I got some pics as Tanner was walking them. Every kid needs a Peanut. She was so easy to clip. He is still learning to clip and when they jump around it makes him nervous. As which point I take over. Peanut just stood there. Thank you to her previous owners. Who put in that work with her. She is so good! A great goat for Tanner to learn even more with.

What woke you up this morning?
Mother & daughter coming into heat together. Screaming both their heads off. Right at sun raise?
No, just me then.

Today's practice walk. Cookie also joined, I just didn't get a pic of her. Macchiato is working on walking and responding on where he is leading her but she will stand still after being set up. Cookie is doing pretty good, she doesn't really like being made to turn around. Peanut is doing great with Tanner. She meets him at the gate and is ready for their walks. We've got to get these three clipped tomorrow.
