Sherman Middle School

🦘🏈 A SPECIAL MORNING AT SMS! ❤️🤍
What a way to start our Friday! 🎉
Today, Sherman Middle School had some VERY special guests welcoming our Bearcats to school! Athletes from Austin College
Home of the Kangaroos! 🦘joined us this morning to greet our students and help kick off their day with smiles, high fives, and lots of positive energy! 🙌
There’s nothing better than seeing our students start their day feeling encouraged, supported, and celebrated! ❤️
A HUGE THANK YOU to the Austin College Roos for taking time out of their busy schedules to pour into our students and make their morning extra special!
Once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat — but today, the Roos and Bearcats made one AMAZING team! 🦘🐾

🏈🏀🏐 HAPPY NATIONAL COACHES DAY! 🏐🏀🏈

Today we are celebrating some of the BEST right here at Sherman Middle School! ❤️🤍

Our coaches do so much more than teach a sport. They lead, motivate, encourage, challenge, inspire, and believe in our Bearcats every single day. They teach teamwork, perseverance, discipline, character, and what it means to keep pushing even when things get tough.

And because we know coaching takes a whole lot of energy… we made sure to show them a little love with some treats today! 🍪😋 Judging by these pictures, I think they approved! 😂

To our SMS coaches: THANK YOU for the early mornings, late afternoons, long practices, game days, pep talks, patience, laughs, and countless hours you pour into our students. The impact you make reaches far beyond the court or field. 🐾

We are incredibly thankful for you and VERY proud to say…

SMS HAS THE BEST COACHES AROUND! ❤️

👯‍♀️🐾❤️ HOMECOMING WEEK IS IN FULL SWING AT SMS! ❤️🐾👯‍♂️
It’s Homecoming Week, and today our Bearcats proved that everything really is BETTER TOGETHER! ❤️

Today was TWIN DAY, and we had twins EVERYWHERE at SMS! 😂 From matching outfits and coordinated colors to staff and students who completely understood the assignment, our halls were full of double takes all day long! 👯‍♀️👯‍♂️

We LOVE seeing our students and staff jump in, have fun, and show their Bearcat spirit! Homecoming Week is all about making memories, building school spirit, and enjoying the fun together—and today definitely delivered!

❤️🐾 Double the outfits. Double the smiles. Double the BEARCAT PRIDE! 🐾❤️

❤️🐾 WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT AT SMS! 🐾❤️
Last night’s Sherman Middle School Open House was absolutely wonderful! We had an AMAZING turnout, and it was so great to see our hallways filled with students, families, teachers, conversations, laughter, and smiles all around! 😊
There is something special about opening our doors and giving our families the opportunity to walk the halls, visit classrooms, meet teachers, and see firsthand all of the great things happening at SMS each and every day.
A huge THANK YOU to every family who took the time to join us, to our incredible teachers and staff who welcomed everyone with open arms, and to everyone who helped make the evening run so smoothly. ❤️
Seeing so many members of our Bearcat community together in one place was a great reminder that when our school and families come together, our students are the ones who benefit most.
We are so grateful for our SMS families and proud of the community we continue to build together!
🐾❤️ One school. One family. One amazing Bearcat community! ❤️🐾

😂🐾 SHENANIGANS AT SMS… AND POOR DR. SMITH IS THE TARGET! 🐾😂
It seems our SMS Admin Team—and now the entire faculty—have decided that keeping Dr. Smith on his toes is part of our job description! 🤣
🥤 Shenanigan #1: Anything BUT a Cup!
We started during our admin meeting when everyone secretly showed up with their drinks in ANYTHING but a cup. Dr. Smith had absolutely NO idea what was going on, and let’s just say… the look on his face and his reaction were PRICELESS! 😂 We somehow managed to pull it off without him catching on!
👖 Shenanigan #2: JORT DAY!
Then today, we decided it was time to bring the faculty in on the fun and secretly declared it JORT DAY! 😂 And our SMS staff did NOT disappoint! There were jorts EVERYWHERE! Long jorts, short jorts, stylish jorts… we had ourselves a full-blown denim situation at SMS. 👖🤣
We work hard around here, but we also believe in having a little fun together—and apparently that means Dr. Smith may want to start questioning everything we do from here on out! 👀😂
We love that our SMS family can work hard, laugh together, and make some great memories along the way. ❤️🐾
Dr. Smith… you might want to stay alert. We’re only getting started. 🤣👀

🐾❤️ OUR FIRST PEP RALLY OF THE YEAR! ❤️🐾
Sherman Middle School officially kicked off our first pep rally of the year, and our Bearcats brought the ENERGY! 📣🔥
We started things off in an incredible way with one of our talented choir students performing the National Anthem. 🎶🇺🇸 What a beautiful performance and a great way to begin!
Our SMS Band kept that energy going with AMAZING performances!🥁🎺🎶 They filled the gym with music, excitement, and plenty of Bearcat spirit!
Of course, a pep rally wouldn’t be complete without a little friendly competition! Our student-athletes took on our teachers in a very competitive game of musical chairs… and we have to give this round to the TEACHERS! 😂👏🏆 Sorry, athletes—you’ll have to come back stronger next time!
Our Cheer and Drill Teams absolutely showed out and brought the spirit with fantastic performances! 📣💃❤️
And holding it all together as our MC was none other than Dr. Smith! 🎤🐾 He kept the crowd going, the energy high, and the Bearcat spirit even HIGHER!
What a way to kick off our first pep rally! From our talented Fine Arts students to our athletes, teachers, and administrators, this was truly an SMS TEAM effort!
❤️🐾 It’s a GREAT day to be a Bearcat! 🐾❤️

Sherman Middle School wants to thank Nautilus Family Fitness for generously donating bike locks to our bike riding students.
Mr. Lewis identified that bike riding students at SMS did not have locks to keep their bikes safe while they were at school and brought that need to our Community in Schools site coordinator. The partnerships between our staff, CIS and our community leaders, like Nautilus Family Fitness, help us remove barriers to student success. Go Bearcats!!!
