Our September Volunteer of the Month is Chris! As an intake volunteer, Chris helps with the first stages of a cat’s arrival: assisting with health checks, preparing their enclosures, and transferring new kitties. The best part? “I get to meet all the cats this way!”

Every year, more than 1,400 cats come through our doors. Cats like Reece.

When Reece arrived at SAFe, he seemed like any other happy, healthy cat. Then one day, he lost mobility from the waist down. His symptoms suggested FIP, a mutation of feline coronavirus. Our entire team worked together to get this sweet, resilient kitty back on his feet.

When you participate in our auction in any way, you’re showing up for Reece and other cats who depend on us for support. A few clicks may not seem like much, but to them, that support means everything.

The wait is over! Tonight is the Nine Lives Gala, where we’ll gather in the Enchanted Furrest for feline festivities. Hundreds of community members will join us in person – and the rest of our community will be there in spirit.

This is our 13th year putting on this massive event. Last year, we raised over $238,500 for critical resources such as medical supplies, foster training, and ongoing cat care. From everyday items like cat food to specialized support like radiographs, this one night adds up to so much more for the kitties who need us.

So put on your evening attire, bring your appetite for delicious food and spectacular auction prizes, and join us in making an impact that lasts long after we’ve said goodnight.

It’s not just cats filling the rescue this week. As we get ready for Saturday’s Gala, our offices are brimming with decorations, prizes, and auction supplies. All this prep doesn’t happen overnight; it’s the result of months of planning, collaboration, and problem-solving. That hard work is about to pay off! We can’t wait for you to be there for it. ♥️

Attention, bibliophiles! The Brontë sisters – Anne, Charlotte, and Emily – are out of the moors and looking for a new home. Unlike their reclusive namesakes, this literary litter is outgoing and always up for adventures. Adopting them is the cutest way to catch up on your reading list!

At nine years old, Edalynn may be a mature age, but her affectionate personality is all kitten. Who can say no to those delightfully round cheeks, big eyes, and velvet-soft fur?

Due to her mild to moderate medical condition, a seasoned cat home would suit Edalynn best. She’s looking for a family that’s as comfortable giving medication as they are giving cheek scritches. Lots and lots of cheek scritches.
