We revamped our annual volunteer training this year - and rebuilt it from the ground up. Literally.

Introducing LAUNCHPAD: imadi’s new immersive, movement-based volunteer training experience.

More than 100 volunteers, representing 9 different high schools and a wide range of communities and Jewish backgrounds, came together at ZavaZone to move through five interactive stations built around imadi’s core values. And we didn’t just talk about what it means to support a family. We made our volunteers experience it.

On the balance beam, volunteers were challenged to think about everything a parent of a child with a complex medical condition may already be balancing- and then ask: How can we help steady them? And how might our actions, even unintentionally, throw them further off balance?

Every obstacle, challenge, and conversation pushed our volunteers to think more deeply about the work they do, the responsibility they carry, and the impact they can have. With nearly 200 families across Maryland and the Greater Washington, DC region counting on this community of support, we’re raising the bar for what it means to show up.

For many children with complex medical conditions, a MIC-KEY G-button is part of everyday life. It's a small feeding tube button that delivers nutrition, hydration, and medication directly to the stomach when eating by mouth isn't possible or isn't enough. Manufactured by Avanos Medical, the term is so widely used that many clinicians and families use "MIC-KEY" generically to refer to any low-profile G-button, even when it's a different brand.

As we prepared to bring 10 incredible children to Walt Disney World, our team at imadi had an idea.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚 "𝐌𝐈𝐂-𝐊𝐄𝐘" 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚 "𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲"? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝?

Our team designed and 3D-printed a custom Mickey-inspired cover that fit over a G-button, turning a medical device into a little piece of Disney magic.

A few months ago, the imadi programming team gathered around a dinning room table dreaming about what this summer at Eagle Point could become. Someone suggested a Disney theme. "Disney..madi we'd call it." Then another idea followed... "What if we didn't just bring Disney to camp? What if we actually brought the kids to Disney World?"

It sounded impossible. But around here, some of our favorite stories begin that way. Months of dreaming, logistics, and a little bit of Disney magic later, that impossible idea became reality.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Ahuva Wertenteil Orlofsky and Aaron Orlofsky, nearly 10 incredible children living with life-changing medical conditions were surprised with a visit to their home from their favorite Disney princess, and then boarded a plane to Orlando for two unforgettable nights and one absolutely magical day in the Magic Kingdom.

There are moments that can't be measured by photos or itineraries. The look on a child's face as they walk down Main Street for the very first time. The excitement of seeing Cinderella Castle. The freedom to simply be a kid, without hospital rooms, treatments, or diagnoses defining the day.

As Disneymadi transformed our Eagle Point campus into the happiest place in Maryland, these children experienced the happiest place on Earth.

"And so, our journey comes to an end. But yours continues on." ✨🏰

And... they all lived happily ever after. 🏰 We wrapped up our 28th day at imadi’s overnight summer camp with a spectacular Cinderella Ball 👑, an ingenious shadow-freezing with Peter Pan in Neverland 💫, a messy noodle-paint fight with Lady and the Tramp 🍝boating with Arielle in the Seven Seas Lagoon 🛥️, and a special showing from Isabela Madrigal (Mikki Wassner), a magical flower-growing character from Encanto. 💐

Just another day of magic at Disneyyyymadi!
