The National Medical Association is proud to join healthcare organizations across the country in advancing a culture where seeking mental health support is normalized, confidentiality is protected, and healthcare professionals can access the care they need without fear of professional consequences.
In a recent article from the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation highlighting the nationwide ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare initiative, NMA President Brandi K. Freeman, MD, MS, shares NMA’s commitment to protecting the mental health and wellbeing of physicians and the entire healthcare workforce.
As Dr. Freeman emphasizes, protecting the health of our communities also means protecting the people who care for them. Creating meaningful change requires moving beyond conversations about resilience and addressing the systems, stigma, and barriers that can prevent healthcare professionals from seeking help when they need it.
We encourage our members and partners to read more about this important national effort and the progress being made to create a healthier, more supportive healthcare workforce.
