Vaginal dryness is a treatable medical issue, not something to just push through.
It happens when declining estrogen levels make vaginal tissue thinner and less lubricated, and it can also be triggered by certain medications, stress, or underlying conditions.
The good news: there are options for every level of need, from vaginal moisturizers and lubricants to vaginal estrogen therapy and systemic hormone therapy — plus simple lifestyle changes that help too.
If dryness is affecting your comfort, confidence, or intimacy, don't wait it out. Talk to your provider — relief is closer than you think. 💛

Did you know that the majority of women (54%) have delayed a gynecologic visit due to fear of discomfort? You have options for easing discomfort. 💙
We offer Nitronox, an inhaled blend of medical nitrous oxide (often called "laughing gas") and oxygen, at our Silver Spring location.
Because you breathe it in through a small mask, and it's delivered only when you inhale, you stay in control of your comfort the entire time. It's designed to ease both pain and anxiety for in-office procedures such as IUD insertions and removals and pelvic exams, and our trained team administers it carefully throughout your visit.
If you've been putting off a visit due to concerns about an uncomfortable experience, ask us about Nitronox and other pain management options, or learn more here: https://ow.ly/7B1550ZPEEl

When should you get tested for STIs? 🩺
A good rule of thumb: get screened at least once a year during your annual exam — even if you feel totally fine. STIs don't always come with symptoms.
At that visit, testing can include:
✅ A swab for gonorrhea & chlamydia
✅ Bloodwork for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C & syphilis
✅ A swab for herpes — if you notice a tender lesion or sore
✅ Testing for bacterial vaginosis or yeast — if you're experiencing itching, irritation, odor, or abnormal discharge
And remember: condoms are still one of the best ways to help prevent the spread of STIs. 💛
Bottom line: don't wait for symptoms — make STI screening a routine part of your yearly checkup.

Research shows that moderate caffeine consumption does not cause miscarriage or pre-term birth. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends up to 200 milligrams of caffeine per day.
200 milligrams = one 12-ounce cup of brewed coffee.
Remember, you can also find caffeine in:
• Tea (40–70 mg per cup of black tea)
• Soft drinks (30–40 mg per 12 oz cola)
• Energy drinks (50–200+ mg per serving)
• Dark chocolate (12 mg per ounce)
• Some medications (e.g., certain migraine treatments)
Also, certain herbal teas, such as those with chicory root, are to be avoided in pregnancy.

Confused about Pap test and HPV testing recommendations?
If you are at average risk, current recommendations include:
✅ Ages 20-29: Pap test – every 3 years
✅ Ages 30-65:
➡️Preferred: clinician-collected primary hrHPV every 5 years
➡️If not available, Pap and hrHPV co-testing every 5 years OR FDA-approved testing kits for patient-collected HPV testing every 3 years
✅ Ages 65+: Not clinically indicated with adequate prior screening (3 consecutive negative Pap test results or 2 consecutive negative co-testing results within 10 years before stopping screening)
As always, you should speak with your provider about your personal health history and risks to determine the best testing schedule for you.
