TOOLS for SCHOOL 2026 – Save the Date!

The City of Solon Ohio and Solon Schools are excited to once again host Tools for School on August 12, 2026 — and we’re looking for a community-minded business to partner with us!

This is a meaningful opportunity to sponsor an event that directly supports local students and ensures every child starts the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.

🤝 We’re looking for a company that believes in giving back to the community where they work — and wants to make a real impact.

Sponsorship includes:
• Volunteers to assist during the drive on August 12, 4 PM – 7 PM
• Helping collect donations and “stuff the bus”
• Unloading and organizing supplies for storage
• A few volunteers to help sort and deliver supplies on August 13

Join us for a night of musical theater at the Solon High School Drama Club's annual summertime dinner cabaret, the SHS Sizzles fundraiser on August 7. Dinner is at 6 and the curtain rises at 7 in the SHS auditorium.

This is a creative evening of musical entertainment provided by Drama Club members, with multiple grilled menu options prepared just outside the auditorium stage doors. This year’s event, "Miscast Mayhem,” will showcase the student performers singing songs they would not traditionally have the opportunity to perform. The evening also features the “mayhem” of improvisation games that require audience participation similar in style to the popular television show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?

The program ends with the announcement of the 2026-27 Drama Club fall play and spring musical selections, so attendees will be the first to hear which shows will be on the marquee!

Ticket prices are variable based on meal choice and include entree, sides, drink, dessert, and admission to the show. Concessions will also be available.

All proceeds benefit SHS Drama's Senior scholarship fund.

The Band Is (Almost) Back In Town!

The Solon Marching Comets get back from band camp tomorrow! Join us at Solon High School Stadium as they march off the buses and onto the field to debut their 2026 halftime show — the first music event of the new school year.

The “Back from Band Camp” show will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m. when the band returns from its week of preparation at the College of Wooster.

This year's show will feature classic 90's hits, including "Everybody, Back Street's Back," "Bye, Bye, Bye," "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Pretty Fly."

FOR OUR SOLON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES: This will also be the first official meet and greet event for our new high school administrative team. New SHS Principal Dakota Berg and Assistant Principal Paige Zenovic will be at the stadium welcoming back the band and dance team and meeting the school community! Look for them by the Comet spirit flags.

We hope you will join us for this exciting musical season opener to support our students and celebrate the start of another successful year of music education in the Solon Schools!

SAVE THE DATE: The band's official performance season begins August 21 at the Comets first home football game against the Kenston Bombers. Kickoff for the football Comets varsity game is 7 p.m. but come early for the Welcome Back Community Tailgate Event beginning at 5 p.m. behind the home stands. More details to follow soon!

🎬 Solon Police Night Out & Movie in the Park (Bicentennial Park)

Beginning at 5:30 PM, enjoy Touch-a-Truck vehicles, K-9 demonstrations, Child ID kits, games, inflatables, Jungle Terry, Balloons by Blake, SCA crafts, food trucks (The Bus Stop, W***y Nilly’s Wood Fired Pizza, The Dreamsicle Ice Cream Truck), and more.

The evening concludes with a showing of Zootopia 2 under the stars starting at 7:30 PM.

Wishing our students, families, staff and the entire Solon/Glenwillow community a safe and fun Independence Day!

Mark your calendar! Solon Fire Rescue is hosting a Sensory Friendly Open House from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Solon Fire Station 2, 6320 SOM Center Road.

This small-scale event is designed for individuals who may need a less intense, sensory-inclusive environment and their families.

Guests can meet firefighters and paramedics, check out trucks and equipment, spray the fire hose, tour the station, make giant bubbles and interact with a miniature horse from Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center.

Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
