We help parents and professionals in Somerville get strong, confident and have fun in the gym. Our training family is unique.

We take a strangely simple approach. We want you to lose fat, gain muscle, feel great and become the best version of you. We'll help you do this through our training methods, but also through helping you to blossom in a team and family environment. No judgement, no screaming and yelling or competing for the "best time." We push you to become the best version of YOU and help you to create clarity and purpose around exercise and training. You may actually have a little fun while you're at it.

Congrats to Morissa Wiser, our DPT Client of the Month!!

What brought you to DPT?
I was heavier than I'd ever been and was looking for a better way to get moving than depending on myself to run, which wasn't making the impact I needed. I heard about DPT from Shira, and additionally, got positive feedback from my then-chiropractor, Cristina. So I signed up in November to start a trial in December, and I've never turned back!

How long have you been training with us?
3.5 years!!

What do you do in the “real world?” (job, family, pets, etc)
I live in Medford between the Tufts campus and the Mystic River with my husband and 16yo daughter. During the warmer months we can be seen walking our kayaks down the street on a set of wheels to a spot nearby where we launch the boats and then paddle our way to Lower Mystic Lake. When I'm not floating in the middle of the lake (my favorite spot), I can be found talking to people who are on hospice services, providing support & resources, assistance with end of life planning, and education & counseling. I am a social worker and I visit these patients and their family members in their own homes, wherever they live.

What is your biggest gym achievement so far?
Getting stronger, staying committed, and showing up! (also, remember the comment above about being at my heaviest? I'm 35 lbs less than that, 25 of which I accomplished just by my commitment to DPT)

What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining or who has just joined DPT?
Just Do It! or Welcome, we're so glad you're here!

Why we work on pull ups and chin ups with our clients.

Upper body strength isn’t just about how you look.

💥It’s about how you move through your life.

Think about your day—lifting, carrying, reaching, even just sitting at your desk.

When your shoulders, back, and arms are strong, all of that feels easier (and your body feels better doing it).

💥It also matters long term.

Strength in your upper body helps support your joints, improves posture, and plays a role in maintaining bone density as you age.

It’s one of the things that keeps you feeling capable and independent.

And because it’s a bad ass exercise 😉

crushing it!

Lots of busy parents and professionals getting their workouts in before the day starts.

Lifting heavy. Cheering for each other. Trying hard things.

🔥🔥🔥

What some of our clients love about DPT ❤️

Approachable
Built in Accountability
Safe no matter where you’re at

Busy people. Parents. Professionals. Important jobs.

Real people.

Showing up every day.

Social media shows the highlights. The stuff that looks impossible. The fancy exercises.

That’s not what gyms should be.

It’s real people, living lives outside the gym, AND exercising consistently to improve their lives.

That’s what our DPT crew is 👏
