Hey Cheney!
Have you seen all those beautiful yellow fire hydrants freshly painted around town?

Our very own Petra and Grace jumped in to help this weekend! They rolled up their sleeves and joined other amazing volunteers working to give Cheney’s fire hydrants a fresh new look.

We’re proud to see our community coming together to support the CMA Cheney Revitalization effort! What a great way to make a difference—one hydrant at a time

Congratulations to all of our Apex PT 30th anniversary T-shirt winners. It was fun to see all the Apex T-shirts coming in to the offices during our July contest.

Dry Needling at Apex Physical Therapy

Dry needling is a treatment technique used by specially trained physical therapists to address pain, muscle tightness, and movement limitations.

During treatment, a thin, sterile needle—without medication—is gently inserted into targeted muscles or trigger points. This may help release tight tissue, improve mobility, and support the body’s recovery process.

Dry needling may be helpful for:

• Neck and back pain
• Headaches and jaw discomfort
• Shoulder, hip, and knee pain
• Muscle knots and tightness
• Sports and overuse injuries
• Tendon-related pain
• Limited mobility
• Post-operative muscle dysfunction

Dry needling is not the same as acupuncture. It is performed after a physical therapy evaluation and is typically combined with exercise, stretching, manual therapy, and other treatments based on your individual needs.

Apex Physical Therapy has dry needling specialists available at our Cheney, North Spokane, and Airway Heights locations.

Contact Apex Physical Therapy to learn whether dry needling may be appropriate for you during your treatment or to schedule an appointment.

Wildfire Smoke & Outdoor Exercise: Know Before You Go

Before exercising outside, check the Air Quality Index (AQI). Smoke levels can change throughout the day, and strenuous exercise increases your exposure.

🟢 AQI 0–100: Outdoor activity is generally okay for most people. Anyone unusually sensitive to smoke should consider a shorter, lighter workout.

🟠 AQI 101–150: People with heart or lung conditions, older adults, children and others sensitive to smoke should shorten workouts, reduce intensity and take more breaks.

🔴 AQI 151–200: Sensitive individuals should avoid long or strenuous outdoor exercise. Everyone else should reduce intense activity and consider exercising indoors.

🟣 AQI 201–300: Sensitive individuals should avoid all outdoor physical activity. Everyone else should avoid long or intense exercise and move workouts indoors whenever possible.

🟤 AQI 301+: Everyone should avoid outdoor physical activity.

🐾 Don’t forget about your dogs! Keep outdoor trips brief, stick to calm potty walks and skip running, hiking or games of fetch until the air improves. Watch for coughing, gagging, difficulty or noisy breathing, an increased breathing rate, unusual fatigue or weakness. Contact your veterinarian if your pet shows concerning symptoms.

If it looks or smells smoky, choose a lighter indoor workout and wait for cleaner air before returning to strenuous outdoor activity. Check current conditions through AirNow or your local air-quality agency.

Stay active—but protect your lungs and your four-legged workout partners!
