Shibari is the way

After a lot of thought, we’ve made the decision that December 5th will be our final Sh***ri class.

Sh***ri classes have been a huge part of our journey. Over the past 7 years, we’ve had the opportunity to introduce so many people to rope, help people build their skills and confidence, and watch friendships and connections form within the community.

As SITW continues to grow and evolve, our focus is shifting more toward producing the events and experiences that have become such a major part of what we do. That means it’s time for us to close this particular chapter.

So, on December 5th, we’ll be teaching our last class.

If you’ve been telling yourself you were going to come to one of our classes someday, this is it. If you’ve taken classes with us before and want to come back one more time, we’d love to have you.

Thank you to everyone who has learned with us, practiced with us, supported us, and helped turn a simple rope class into a community.

I see people posting all the time about how hard it is to make friends as an adult.

Seriously. Come to our events. Come hang out. Talk to people. You’ll make friends.
You don’t have to already know someone. You don’t have to come with a group. You don’t have to be the most outgoing person in the room.
Our community is full of weird, wonderful, creative people who showed up one day not knowing anybody either.

Halloween comes alive for one unforgettable night.

Fright Night is Spokane’s premier Halloween variety spectacular, bringing together the region’s best in burlesque, drag, aerial arts, flow performance, and sh***ri for an immersive evening of dark entertainment.

SITW Productions brings artists, ideas, and audiences together to create live entertainment that goes beyond the expected.

From the first concept to the final curtain, we build each production from the ground up, developing the theme, curating performers, partnering with venues and collaborators, shaping the atmosphere, and bringing every piece together into one unforgettable night.

Our stages bring together burlesque, drag, sh***ri, flow arts, aerial, music, specialty performance, and more. Sometimes it's an intimate themed show. Sometimes it's an immersive party. Sometimes it's hundreds of people in front of a much bigger stage.

The format changes. The goal doesn't:

Create something people don't just watch. Create something they remember.

ROPE TIP MONDAY: Pay Attention to What the Rope Is Telling You.

When we're first learning to tie, most of our attention tends to go toward remembering what comes next.

Where does this rope go?
Which knot comes next?
Did I do that correctly?

But as we become more comfortable with the fundamentals, we can start paying attention to something else:
What is happening in our hands?
How easily is the rope feeding?
How much friction are we creating?
Has our tension changed?
Are our wraps sitting where we intended?
Did something shift when we moved?

Learning rope isn't only about memorizing a sequence of steps.
It's also about developing familiarity with the material we're working with—and noticing when something doesn't feel or behave the way we expected.

That awareness comes with repetition.
Slow down.
Pay attention.

And give yourself time to actually learn your rope. 🖤
