Down at Auntie’s, there are many inspirational, educational, and insightful books on what it is to be Hispanic.

Whether you are someone who wants to learn more about who you are, or are someone who is curious about this colorful culture, there are plenty of books to expand your understanding!

It’s time to highlight another one of our amazing artists from the Pottery Place Plus, Heidi Barnett!

The lovely Barnett has an amazing collection of colorful and vivid paintings of different wildlife, honing in on the usage of circles in them.
Her unique usage of circles was originally because she didn’t want to be putting colors in a box. Instead, she found a unique and special way to bring her animals to life!

As well, her application of bright and fun colors is due to her love of color!
By Heidi’s own words: “I feel like color is the reason I started painting. I just love color.”

Her inspiration? It comes from the wildlife that she notices in life.
As an owner of dogs, cats, and chickens on her property, wildlife is a common staple in her life.
In her life, she’s alway noticed animals. How they act, interact with whats around them, how they live, every aspect of them.

“I don’t think I really thought ‘Oh, I love watching animals. I just naturally did. I just feel very connected to animals. I love animals around me.”

Her creativity, love for wildlife, and love for colors is evident in her artwork. She’s passionate in what she does, and is expressive in who she is!

A fun fact about Heidi is that she is a loving owner of two pugs, whom she deems as her second set of children! These adorable animals are her constant VIPs in her art shows!

Some wise parting words from Heidi come from a bible verse.

Micah 6:8 “..To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

A new month means a brand new collection in our lovely Liberty Gallery!

Come on down and look at the beautiful works in our brand new “Water” collection by the River Ridge Association of Fine Arts (RRAFA).

Out for display from August 30th to September 26th, don’t miss out on your chance to see them firsthand!

As well, don’t forget our first Friday reception of the month, happening on September 4th from 5pm to 8pm! Have a chance to meet the artists and speak to them about their beautiful creations.
