See our newest tip by Susan Kuznitsky on how to create the feeling of detail without actually painting all the detail.
Complex subjects can be both intimidating and irresistible! When there are so many shapes, patterns, and details to capture, it’s easy to feel like you need to paint every single one. But you don’t.
In this step-by-step tip, Susan shows you how she simplified a busy café interior into a painting that feels rich and detailed. From blocking in large shapes to building up watercolor washes and selectively adding pastel marks, each stage brings the painting closer to the finished piece, “Baristas.”
