TBM Sim work… pilot was doing a great job in the Sim… made me work real hard to find soft spots.. finally got a good one on him. Main gen fail, then stand by gen fail at night… I was waiting and waiting for emergency Bus selection, didn’t get it… at the FAF, failed the electrical bus… a long uncomfortable five miles in the dark… he flew. 😎 Executive Flight Training IFlyHooks

Transition training with Brad and his beautiful G36TN…working on how we navigate weather at 10’K. Coming back into KDWH, we broke off the approach before the FAF to avoid a wall of water… evaluated while getting vectors and finally back for a wet approach.

Brad and I picked up his G36 with a new turbonormalized engine from Tornado Alley. Who came out to greet us? George Braly himself! A decade+ ago, I attended his class… George, Walter, Deacon… were all there. What I learned, I’ve shared with so many pilots over the years and I have been able to troubleshoot engine issues effectively because of their contribution to GA.

TBM Sim training at KTME (Houston) Executive Flight Training Brady completed TBM initial and shows the benefit of training in the new TBM specific simulator. We spend lots of time on learning flow checklists (followed by checklist). We’re work every phase of flight until it feels natural. After, we do failures over and over - hot starts, compressor stalls, gen failure, dozens until the shock factors subside.
From Brady’s first TBM flight ‘…just wanted to reach out and say thanks again. Got my first 7 hours in the TBM today, with ice, weather, and approaches. Felt very prepared. Had to hunt for a few switches in different locations, but otherwise it was great. Owner was pleasantly surprised at the preparation I came back with. Speeds and power settings matched the sim almost perfectly’

Erik moved up from a piston to a beautiful TBM 930.. I provided insurance required Initial Instruction and 15 hours of training. When the plane flies 300 knots… and you have lots of training to do, you get to see some things! An hour later, Erik had us in Bar Harbour Maine eating fresh lobster. Executive Flight Training

Cessna 421C… direct Scottsdale to Houston nonstop. 21k’ pressurized to 7’K making 210kts TAS at +20C ISA. Landed w 1hr 20min of fuel. There’s not many pistons out there that can do what a 421 with Aux tanks can do.

At the 421 shop today, Mike Kinney flew his 421 in… he gave us a ‘what would you do?’ scenario… at 15’k, rt engine starts popping and running rough, he pulls back pwr on rt and it’s smooth and he descends. Any time he added pwr back, it started popping and running rough. ‘Would you feather or keep it low power since it was still running smooth?’ I said ‘shut it down and feather’… see my previous post… on the ground, this is what was happening under the cowling… I’ll tell you the rest of the story next…
