The Sam Houston State University Charter School was granted an “open enrollment” charter by the Texas Education Agency and opened in the fall of 2017. I have been asked "Why a charter school?" Our purpose is to provide the highest quality education to our students and also provide the students of the Sam Houston State University Educator Preparation Program a place to hone their skills as future educators.

Our campus had a special visit from H-E-B today! The students learned all about nutrition, making healthy choices, and simple ways to take care of themselves. 🍎🥕💪
And because learning is always better with a little treat… the kids were treated to some snacks at the end!
A big THANK YOU to H-E-B for making healthy living fun and exciting for our students!

📚 That’s a wrap on our Book Fair! 📚
Thank you to everyone who supported us by adding funds to eWallets, shopping on Grandparents Day, and joining us this morning! It was a busy week, but so worth it for our campus and students!
🌟 Special shout-out to Bryden from Kindergarten! His family generously donated towards Ms. Dulworth’s Book Basket, allowing us to purchase several books requested by our students.

Our school library is a special place where our Bearkats can discover new adventures, explore their interests, and grow their love of reading! We are incredibly grateful for our wonderful volunteer librarian, Ms. Dulworth, who generously dedicates her time to managing our library, caring for our collection, and encouraging our students to pick up a book and READ! ❤️📖
Now we’d love to give back and support all the work she does by helping fill the holes on our library shelves! Through our Build Our Bearkat Bookshelf campaign, families can make a monetary donation that will go directly toward purchasing new books for our school library. Our library is 100% donation based so every little bit helps!
Whether you donate a few dollars or purchase a book, every contribution puts another story into the hands of our Bearkats. Together, we can fill our shelves and help grow a lifelong love of reading! 🐾📚✨
