📚🐍 Slither Back to School with Us! 🐢🦎

Join us on Saturday, August 8th, from 10:00 am–12:00 pm for a fun morning celebrating all things reptiles!

We'll be welcoming our friends from Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center, who will be bringing some of their slithery and scaly animal ambassadors for you to meet up close.

We'll also have:
🎨 Back-to-school-themed crafts
🔍 Our Discovery Room open to explore

This is a come-and-go event, so stop by anytime between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm (last admission is at 11:30 am)!

Our Animal Care Team jumped into the Cypress Swamp this morning for a quick maintenance and cleaning project!

Carolina Wren fledglings spotted hopping around on our back patio this morning!

We will be temporarily closing our back patio off to visitors to allow the fledglings time to adjust to their next stage of life!

What is a fledgling? A fledgling is a young, feathered bird that has left the nest but cannot fly just yet.

Identifying a fledgling:
Feathered: This bird is covered in feathers and has a short tail.
Mobile: It can actively hop, walk, or flutter.
Vocal: It may make frequent chirping sounds to signal its location to its parents.

Finding a fledgling on the ground is entirely natural. Taking it away from its parents, who are usually nearby watching and foraging for it, severely lowers its chance of survival.

Free Recycle Week at the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Residential Recycling Facility starts this week!

Precinct 3 offices will have Kids Meals bins at the Kevin Brady Community Center and Library, Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center and the Commissioner Ritch Wheeler, Precinct 3 office
off of Pruitt Road now until June 30.

What is Kids Meals? It is a nonprofit organization that feeds preschool aged children who would receive free lunch if they were school aged. During the summer the meal count really racks up as children who receive free lunch/breakfast are now at home and need a meal! WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!
