The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) officially adopted the 2026-27 Flood Infrastructure Fund (FIF) Intended Use Plan on September 10, setting the framework for critical statewide drainage and flood mitigation financing. During the 88th Legislative Session, Senate Bill 30 appropriated more than $624 million from the general revenue fund to the FIF program. The TWBD anticipates utilizing at least $312.4 million between 2026-2027 to assist Texas communities in reducing long-term flood risks and advancing regional flood projects, utilizing grants and 0% interest loans.

The Texas Department of Transportation has scheduled a “Virtual” Public Meeting with an In-person “Open House” option. TxDOT is proposing to widen State Highway (SH) 99, also known as the Grand Parkway, from west of Springwoods Village Parkway to east of Townsen Boulevard / Imperial Promenade in both Harris and Montgomery counties, Texas.

This week, North Houston Association Workforce & Education Committee held its monthly meeting at Montgomery ISD’s Career & Technical Education Center (CTE) “The Den.” Committee members focused their efforts on developing an action plan that builds a resilient workforce by strengthening collaboration between educators and industry leaders. As an added bonus, CTE Director Kristy Starkey led our group on a tour of the impressive facility, where we may have made a few new friends in the Agricultural Science Center!
