Scaffolding rose to 4th place in OSHA's FY2026 ranking of most-cited safety violations, up from 6th, with 1,725 violations recorded under 29 CFR 1926.451.

Here's the nuance: every category in the Top 10 actually saw fewer violations than last year, scaffolding included. The rank moved up because other hazards dropped faster, not because scaffolding got worse.

Violations trending down industry-wide is good news. But scaffolding isn't closing the gap as fast as the rest, worth a second look at your crews' plans, load documentation, and inspection sign-offs.
