We love watching our students lead by example. One student jumps in with enthusiasm, and before you know it, friends are following along, trying something new, and sharing in the JOY!

Go first. Cheer others on. Invite your friends in. God can use your example to encourage someone else to take that next step.

⚖️ Life is all about balance… and apparently, the right shoes! 👟

In P.E., we’re practicing more than balance—we’re building focus, perseverance, confidence, and the determination to keep going when something feels challenging.

This student stayed steady, kept trying, and balanced until she reached her time goal. Then she proudly reminded us:

“Like I told you, these are my balancing shoes!”

Sometimes staying steady means finding your footing, believing you can do it, and maybe wearing the right shoes.

Keep balancing. Keep growing. Keep reaching those goals!

🔬 Recess discoveries turned into classroom exploration today!

Our Ambleside students found some interesting things outside during recess and decided to bring them in for a closer look under the microscope!

We love watching curiosity lead the way. 💛 A simple discovery outside can spark questions, exploration, and a whole new learning experience. God created an amazing world—and there is so much to discover when we take the time to look a little closer!

This truth shapes the way we teach.

We presume competence because we believe there is so much within each learner that deserves the opportunity to be seen, heard, and understood.

And sometimes, one of the most important things we can give a student is simply time.

Time to process.
Time to find their words.
Time to use their AAC, signs, gestures, or voice.
Time to work through a problem.
Time to show us what they know.

We don't want to rush in and do for a student what God has equipped them to learn to do for themselves.

So we wait. We encourage. We support. We believe.

At Journey School, presuming competence is more than an educational practice—it is one way we honor who God created each student to be. ✨
