What: Milling and repaving project

Where: Riley Fuzzel Road between bridge at Montgomery-Harris County line and entrance to Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center

Impact: Alternating lane closures. Some traffic delays.

Commissioner Wheeler is happy to update that the traffic signal at Birnham Woods Drive-Lexington Boulevard intersection is back up and running. He wants to thank you for your patience.

7:25 p.m.

Underground and cabinet wiring too severely damaged for full repair without bore.
Signal is in flash as much as possible with stop signs placed at intersection overnight.
Contractor will be on site by 8 a.m. to start new bore and repair/replace damaged facilities.

Drivers should treat intersection as an all-way stop.

5:45 p.m.
Where: Birnham Woods Drive-Lexington Boulevard intersection

What: Traffic signal fiber damaged. Intersection dark. Treat as an all-way stop. Stop signs placed at intersection.

Why: Boring contractor severely damaged the underground electrical and cabinet wiring.

Status: Traffic signal crews are investigating and working to get signal up and running (at least into flash).
If not, signal could remain dark overnight and through Tuesday.
New bore and conduit may be needed due to the extensive damage.

Town Hall Meeting Tuesday, September 15 Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler hosted a Town Hall Meeting on September 15, 2026, at the Kevin Brady Community Center in The Woodlands. Commissioner Wheeler and the court recognized National 4-H Week and heard from several young woman on how they are better leaders because of the program. They also heard from the Montgomery County Library System that continues to be recognized locally as well as nationally.

📚Commissioner Wheeler was honored to read to a third grade class at Deretchin Elementary School this morning for "Read for a Better Life" day. This is a literacy initiative promoting daily reading, especially reading aloud to children to improve academic success, critical thinking and long-term well-being. We are so proud of our teachers and the passion that they pour into the lives of children everyday.

What an amazing turnout at tonight’s Fall Town Hall! Commissioner Wheeler thanks all of our constituents, community leaders, fellow elected officials and project engineers who joined us to hear about what’s happening across Precinct 3.

From the upcoming Senior Center and County budget to our new traffic signal modernization project, there’s a lot happening in Precinct 3 — and we’re excited about what’s ahead!
