This is a picture of a rim for a vehicle that recently got tires at one of the big box stores or discount stores. Notice all the black debris along the edge. That is where the new tire is supposed to seal. They didn't even attempt to clean that surface and this tire was leaking there. This was something that we see happen quite often from these places.

When you need tires, choose a quality shop with a professional installer. There is never that much savings going to one of these places and who has time to go back to have it redone anyway?

It's that A/C time of year again and we wanted to pass along a tech tip for those DIYers out there.

Many of those A/C recharging cans that you purchase contain sealers and stop leaks which can harm and destroy your a/c systems (even though they may say that they won't). These sealers will expand when in the presence of air and can clog your system. A low or empty system is full of air. We have to test each vehicle that comes in to our shop for a/c work for the presence of these stop leaks and sealers. If found, the service cost is much higher because this stuff ruins our equipment.

These cans also only have a low side pressure gage so you truly can not know if you have the right amount of refrigerant going in.

Please consider having your a/c serviced by a professional before you use these things. It will likely save you from a big headache and a bigger bill in the future.
