Springboro Summer Strings just wrapped up its second annual summer camp! π»
Last week, students in grades 7-10 joined members of the University of Dayton New Horizons adult music education program to form two orchestras.
Younger musicians learned how to balance dynamics, listen across the orchestra to make sure their rhythms mathematically lined up, and follow the conductor for tempo changes. πΌ
Older musicians focused on playing compound meters (using math as they played), tracking the melody throughout the piece and making sure it was always clearly heard above the accompaniment, and working with advanced shifting and bow placement playing techniques. πΌ
Campers ended the week by delivering a phenomenal performance!
Thank you to camp teachers Ava Denault and Sarah Benedict, and camp coaches Nicholas Hogue and Henry Klasing for making this musical experience possible for our talented students! πΎ

Class of 2026 graduate Addison Haines (Cinderella in this yearβs spring musical) wasted no time furthering her theatre career after earning her SHS diploma. π
She was one of two students from our region selected to represent the Miami Valley at the Jimmy Awards in New York City last month! This selective event recognizes top high school theatre talent from around the country! ππ
Addi was front and center during the opening number and again with a monologue later in the show! And to make the experience even more memorable, she walked away with one of just three Showstopper Awards presented to members in the featured ensemble number! π
Congratulations on an unforgettable trip to the Big Apple, Addi! ππΎ

We are less than a month away from the 2026 Warren County Fair, and two of our Springboro 4-H students are already competing! π’π‘
Rising senior Chloe and 8th grader Elam spent the past two days showing their talented (and adorable) pets in the 4-H Dog Show. π
Lucy, an Australian shepherd, and Roxy, a Boston terrier, have been living the show dog life for years alongside their proud owners who train them in all things showmanship, agility, and obedience. π¦΄
Not only do they get to put their (and their dogsβ) skills to the test, Chloe and Elam have developed strong friendships through 4-H over the years.
We look forward to rooting on our 60+ Springboro 4-Hers when the fair returns next month! βοΈπΎ
