MARBLED RYE SOURDOUGH

If you’ve been by the booth since May you’ve been seeing more and more breads inspired by my European excursion. You’ve heard me talk about how much I fell in love with the flavor of whole grains and the substance European breads gravitate towards. One recipe I’ve been having fun with is this marbled rye. Fresh-milled rye gives a rich flavor and cocoa powder creates the deeper color in half the loaf. The swirl reminds me of the little magic moments we have in life - like a fresh cut slice of bread just out of the oven. See this bread monthly at the market! Follow along my journey of trying Northern European bread & baked goods!

The Breaditarian is going to Europe! 😍 You better believe I'm going to be eating all the bread...as research, of course. We won’t be at C-street the next 3 weeks, but keep the habit up and support the other local vendors there! Wish us well in our travels and we’ll see you in a few weeks!

C-street is going off! Check out all sorts of old fashioned cars on the street and then sneak over to the market for the best local products (including fresh bread 😉).

Check out this hopping event on C-Street this Saturday! Not only can you buy delicious bread and shop other local vendors, but you can also celebrate the historic bridge opening! Check out the event schedule for all the events going on. We'll see you there with a special muffin flavor to celebrate the community connection that will accompany the grand opening of the bridge.

Flashback to a couple weeks ago when I used my great-great-grandmother's Pullman pan to bake the classic Pain De Mie (French mother of all sandwich bread). The same pan that fed my family generations ago continues to provide fresh bread for my family and this community. What an honor to continue the legacy of homemade bread! I'm already trying to instill a love of baking quality breads into my children so that bread-making never finds its end in my family. Real bread is a habit that's too good to let go. Do you have any baking heirlooms? I'd love to see/hear stories of how you're continuing the "homemade" legacy!
