🐈 APPARENTLY CATS REQUIRE GROCERIES.

Who knew.

Well, I knew. I just apparently forgot to tell everybody else that WE NEED THEM. 😂🤦‍♀️

Somewhere between TNR, vet appointments, paperwork, messages, cats needing things, humans needing things, cats needing things because of humans, and whatever fresh nonsense each day has delivered, my brain packed a tiny suitcase and left the building.

And while it was gone, I let our food pantry get LOW. Like… embarrassingly low. 😬

Right now our biggest need is CANNED ADULT CAT FOOD. Pretty much any adult canned food is helpful!

Ironically, the ONE thing we are swimming in is Fancy Feast canned kitten food. 😂 So for the love of tiny furry freeloaders, we’re pretty well covered on that one for now.

Adult canned food, though? BRING FORTH THE PÂTÉ.

Now, before anybody worries, we aren’t going to completely run out of food. I already have some on the way, and obviously I’m going to make sure the cats here are fed.

But I’d MUCH rather use our donation dollars for vet bills and TNR than spend them replacing food.

Every case of food donated means those dollars can instead go toward spays, neuters, vaccines, medical care, and whatever ridiculous medical catastrophe a cat decides to present me with next. 🫠

And our food pantry doesn’t just feed the cats here at Pets4Vets.

We also use it to help feed feral/community cat colonies and to help people in our community who are struggling to feed their own cats.

Right now we’re so low that I don’t have extra food in the pantry to help people who ask, and I’m struggling to keep enough canned food available for the colonies we help feed.

Every can helps. Every case helps. And every food donation lets us keep more of our money where we really need it: vet care and TNR. 🐾💙

🐾 Pets4Vets of the Ozarks

Just a little update from behind the scenes at Pets4Vets…

I am currently hanging on by approximately one thread. And I’m pretty sure the thread is cat hair. 😂

Between trying to reorganize the board, update bylaws and nonprofit paperwork, catch up on messages, keep up with the cats, vet appointments, TNR, regular rescue chaos, and deal with some of my own health issues…my brain has officially put up an OUT OF ORDER sign.

And because apparently we needed one more thing on the pile, Pets4Vets is officially CLOSED TO INTAKE right now.

I was informed that Georgie will be coming back to us. Unfortunately, he just isn’t getting along with the resident cat in his new home. Sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, a placement simply doesn’t work out. That’s part of rescue, and when one of our cats needs to come back, we make room for them.

But that also means I do not have room to take in additional cats right now. Please understand that I genuinely hate saying no, but I cannot keep stretching our space, resources, or myself beyond what we can safely handle.

The good news is the cats here are doing well. Jack and Rocco are doing great, everyone is being cared for, and the rescue is still functioning.

I, however, am running on fumes. 😂

So if you’ve messaged me and I haven’t answered yet, or my answer is shorter than usual, please don’t take it personally. I’m working my way through everything while also dealing with my own health and trying to accept the apparently revolutionary concept that I am, in fact, only one human being.

I may be a little quieter and slower for a few days while I get caught up.

Now I’m going back to the nonprofit paperwork I opened while doing the other nonprofit paperwork that I started because I got distracted from the original nonprofit paperwork. 😵‍💫🐈

🚨 P4V STATUS UPDATE: MANAGEMENT HAS COLLAPSED 😂🐾

All 11 TNR cats were released this morning, and everybody went home happy. 🎉 They have been fixed, ear-tipped, returned to their respective neighborhoods, and are presumably already telling everyone about the absolutely terrible Uber service.

Which means I am officially tapping out of messages for a couple of days.

This weekend kicked my butt, my fibromyalgia has entered the chat with VIOLENCE, and apparently while I was running around trapping and hauling cats, my paperwork and data entry were left unattended and have now multiplied into their own colony.

So am I taking a break?

Sort of.

Am I going to be resting while simultaneously trying to remember which cat came from where, who got what, what needs entered, what needs filed, and why there are approximately 7,482 pieces of paper staring at me?

Also yes. 😂

A couple quick medical-kitty updates before I temporarily disappear into the paperwork abyss:

❤️ JACK: Our favorite freshly assembled tripod is doing AMAZING. His follow-up appointment is Friday, and I could not be happier with how well this boy is doing.

🧡 ROCCO: This dude already looks a whole hell of a lot better. When he was neutered at S.A.A.F. last week, he was also started on antibiotics for what they found. Thankfully, nothing going on with him at that time required an emergency vet visit, so we’ve been able to let those antibiotics do their job while keeping a close eye on him.

And boy, have they been doing their job. He already looks SO much better. ❤️

He also seems to be adapting ridiculously well to indoor life for a guy who spent years outside. Apparently Rocco has discovered climate control, regular meals, and soft places to sleep and has decided, “Yeah, actually, this’ll do.” 😂

He has his initial appointment at Fair Grove on Friday so we can address his eye issues and figure out exactly what comes next.

Meanwhile, all of the cats currently here will continue receiving their regularly scheduled five-star accommodations because apparently none of them recognize PTO.

So if you message me over the next couple of days and I don’t respond, please don’t panic, resend it 14 times, send a carrier pigeon, or assume I’ve been eaten by the cats. 😂 I am not ignoring you.

I am tired.
I am sore.
I am buried in paperwork.
And I need a minute.

Unless it’s truly urgent, please give me a couple of days to reassemble Pam. 😂❤️🐾

🖤 For the little mama we couldn’t save.

Saturday, while I was helping with TNR at a trailer park, the feeder caught this little lady.

She was painfully thin and suffering from a severe re**al prolapse. It was extensive, badly contaminated, and from her condition, it was clear she had been struggling for some time.

We tried to find another answer for her. But ultimately, there wasn’t a good one. The kindest thing we could give this little mama was an end to her suffering.

And that part hurts.

I hate knowing she had been outside living like this. I hate that help didn’t find her sooner.

But there is one thing I keep coming back to:

Her babies are safe.

Her kittens were trapped that same day. They won’t grow up continuing the cycle. They won’t become the next generation of moms having babies underneath trailers or tomcats fighting to survive.

Whatever this little mama went through, the cycle stops with her babies.

Sometimes TNR is spay, neuter, ear-tip and release. Sometimes it means discovering a cat who desperately needed someone to notice.

And sometimes the only kindness left to give is making sure they don’t hurt anymore.

Thank you to Kim at S.A.A.F. for trying to help us find another option for her, and to Emergency Veterinary Clinic of SWMO for getting her in so quickly and making sure her suffering ended.

And thank you to her feeder for caring enough to trap her.

She mattered. She was seen. And her babies are safe. 🖤🐾

🚨 SAAF Spay Neuter Clinic NEEDS A CAT-HAULING CHARIOT. 🚨

I rolled into S.A.A.F. this morning with ELEVEN CATS for TNR.

Not 2.
Not 5.
ELEVEN.

Please enjoy the accompanying photo of my car, which apparently identifies as a feline transport truck now. 😂

While they were going through my stack of paperwork for this morning’s furry shipment, we got to talking about how incredibly helpful it would be for S.A.A.F. to have a good-sized utility cart with large wheels for TNR days.

Because as impressive as my 11-cat delivery may look, there are absolutely days when even more cats than this come rolling in.

And carrying them in one or two at a time?

That’s just cardio with screaming luggage. 😂

So I’m putting out a little plea to the universe.

Does anyone have a large, sturdy utility cart with big wheels they’d be willing to donate to S.A.A.F.? Or maybe someone knows a business that would be willing to donate one or help us get one?

Something large enough and sturdy enough to haul multiple traps and carriers at once would make those busy TNR mornings go SO much smoother.

Also, today I discovered the official carrying capacity of my car:

11 cats: confirmed.
12 cats: I’m pretty sure I could do it.
13 cats: WE ARE NOT DISCUSSING THIS.

So for now, 12 is officially the Pam Maximum Cat Capacity™.

If anyone can help S.A.A.F. acquire their very own Cat-Hauling Chariot 3000, please let me know.

The humans will appreciate it.

So… I’ve been slacking on posting this weekend.

I HAVE A REASON. 😂

Apparently I have opened an illegal feline parking garage.

There are currently ELEVEN FUZZ BUTTS stacked in my garage awaiting TNR tomorrow.

11. CATS.

Every shelf has a cat.
Every cat has an opinion.
Every opinion is negative.
And I am fairly certain at least three of them have put a hit out on me. 😂

They’re all tucked in, covered up, safe and settled for the night while I wander around checking traps like some deranged hotel manager.

We need to talk about Reese.

Reese is a former bottle baby, which means she was raised by humans and consequently believes she IS a human.

A human with no job.
No bills.
No respect for boundaries.
And an alarming desire to put YOU in her mouth.

Finger? MOUTH.
Nose? MOUTH.
Chin? Somehow also MOUTH.
Anything within a six-inch radius of Reese?

✨ PROBABLY GOING IN HER MOUTH. ✨

And before anyone panics, Reese is NOT a violent biter. 😂 There is absolutely no aggression behind it. This child just… likes having things in her mouth. She’ll grab your finger, your hand, your chin, whatever happens to be available, because apparently her mouth is also her primary method of investigating the world.

She’s basically a furry toddler who skipped the “we don’t put that in our mouth” stage of development.

We have explained it to her. She has rejected our feedback. 🤣

Please understand, she isn’t mean. She’s just… a lot of Reese.

This child wakes up every morning and chooses AGGRESSIVELY ENTHUSIASTIC AFFECTION.

She has approximately 742 units of energy, no discernible braking system, and absolutely no idea that other living creatures occasionally enjoy having personal space.

And yet…

The SECOND I walk into her room, she comes running toward me with that ridiculous motorboat purr going full blast. ❤️ She wants UP. She wants kisses. She wants cuddles. She wants to be involved in whatever I’m doing, whether I requested her assistance or not.

And this cat is ABSURDLY trusting.

Pick her up.

Turn her around.

Hold her like a baby.

Carry her upside down.

Reese:
“THIS SEEMS FINE. ARE WE GOING SOMEWHERE? CAN I PUT YOUR CHIN IN MY MOUTH?”

She is genuinely one of the sweetest, funniest, most ridiculous little creatures we have raised. She loves HARD, plays HARDER, and has enough personality to power a small Midwestern town.

And she needs a HOME.

Reese needs another feline accomplice, so she must either go home with another cat/kitten or to a home that already has a kitty friend. One Reese cannot be expected to contain all this Reese by herself.

If you’re looking for a quiet little cat who sits politely in the corner looking decorative…
