What are LVP/Laminate floors?

LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) and LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) are made from a stone polymer core. This material allows it to be 100% waterproof, meaning there is less worry about spills, and it can be mopped when cleaning. This moisture resistance means LVP can be placed in any room of the house, including areas you expect to get wet often, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and mudrooms. LVP is also resistant to dents, scratches, and general wear, making it a great choice for households with pets and kids.

Laminate flooring is made of compressed wood fibers, making it a more eco-friendly option. It consists of a strong bottom layer, wood fiber core, a photo layer to look like wood, and a top layer to help protect from scratches. The top layer of laminate flooring is water resistant and can handle most any spill that comes its way. Laminate is dent and scratch resistant, making it a durable flooring option for high traffic areas and households with kids and pets. It is ideal for people looking for a more budget friendly option while still offering the look of a hardwood floor.

Hardwood floors can last a lifetime (or more) if properly cared for. Here's some helpful dos and don'ts when it comes to caring for your hardwood floors!

DO sweep hardwood floors as much as possible
DON'T wet mop hardwood floors
DO use cleaners that are recommended by major wood floor finish or wood floor manufacturers
DON'T let spills sit on hardwood floors
DO use walkoff mats and area rugs at doorways
DON'T let pet nails get too long. Dogs running through the house will scratch any finish.
DO put floor protectors on furniture and other items that might rub on wood floors
DON'T expose hardwood floors to extreme humidity or temperature changes that are not normal for your area
DO consider using runners/rugs in high traffic areas
