We love hearing from parents about the progress they’re seeing at home and at school. One parent recently shared:

✨ “Her confidence in academics has markedly improved! She is reading things she could not before. Her cursive is amazing compared to her print, and I am so impressed. Doing schoolwork is not nearly as dreaded.”

That last sentence says so much. When reading and schoolwork become less frustrating, students have the opportunity to build not only their skills, but their confidence too.

🧠 Parent Tip Tuesday: Reading Ability ≠ Intelligence

A child can struggle to read and still be an incredibly bright, curious, and capable learner.

Dyslexia affects the skills involved in reading—it does not determine how intelligent a child is or how deeply they can think and understand.

Keep giving your child opportunities to explore big ideas! Read challenging books aloud, listen to podcasts or audiobooks, watch documentaries, visit museums, and have meaningful conversations.

Don’t let reading difficulty limit learning. 💙

What a difference five months can make!

In April 2026, Eli had a Lexile reading score of 410 and ranked in the 17th national percentile.

Today, his progress is incredible:
📈 Lexile: 670 — a 260-point increase!
📈 National Percentile: 45th — up 28 percentile points!

These numbers represent so much more than a score. They reflect months of hard work, persistence, growing skills, and confidence. We are so proud of Eli and all he has accomplished! 💙

✏️ CALT Corner #6: Spelling Isn't About Memorization
Good spellers don't memorize thousands of words.

They recognize patterns.

Our students learn:
🔹 Sound-symbol relationships
🔹 Syllable types
🔹 Spelling generalizations
🔹 Prefixes, suffixes, and roots

When students understand how English works, spelling becomes much more manageable.

📚 Parent Tip Tuesday: Audiobooks Count! 🎧

For students with dyslexia, decoding skills may not always match their ability to understand complex ideas and stories. Audiobooks allow kids to enjoy age-appropriate books while building vocabulary, background knowledge, comprehension, and a love of reading.

Encourage your child to listen to books that interest and challenge them—even if those books are above their independent reading level.

Audiobooks aren’t a shortcut—they’re a tool! 💙
