Today, I was proud to join Governor Healey, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, and local leaders to celebrate a historic $93 million investment in the MassMutual Center.

This investment is about more than modernizing a venue—it’s about strengthening Springfield’s economy, supporting jobs, growing tourism, and creating new opportunities for residents and businesses across Western Massachusetts.

Thank you to the Healey-Driscoll Administration for recognizing the importance of investing in our region’s future. Springfield continues to move forward.

Springfield has lost a remarkable storyteller.

For decades, Ed Cohen documented our city’s people, neighborhoods, and defining moments through his camera, preserving the history and spirit of Springfield for generations to come. His photographs captured not only events, but the character, resilience, and culture of our community.

My thoughts are with Ed’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire all who call Springfield home.

Every one of these investments is about building a stronger future for Springfield. Whether we're creating new housing, strengthening our regional health care system, investing in family services, or expanding destinations that drive tourism and economic activity, these projects reflect the priorities our community has consistently identified. Together, they will create jobs, improve quality of life, and position Springfield for long-term growth. I'm proud to have secured these investments and grateful to my Senate colleagues for recognizing the importance of continuing to invest in Western Massachusetts.

Green card holders are our neighbors, workers, entrepreneurs, and taxpayers. They open restaurants, launch small businesses, create jobs, and contribute every day to the economic strength of Massachusetts. Denying lawful permanent residents access to SBA loan programs doesn't make our economy stronger—it makes it harder for small businesses to succeed. I support this resolution because opportunity should never be limited by unnecessary barriers that prevent hardworking people from investing in their communities and pursuing the American dream.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make the soft opening of the new Target at Springfield Crossing a reality. This investment represents more than a new place to shop—it brings new jobs, expands access to everyday essentials, and continues the momentum of economic growth on Boston Road.
