🔧 2016 Chevy Colorado — Diagnostics Matter!

This Colorado came into Clark’s Garage with intermittent ABS, Traction Control, and StabiliTrak warnings, along with O₂ sensor work that needed to be completed.

All four wheel-speed sensors had recently been replaced with aftermarket sensors, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re working correctly.

During a road test while monitoring live data, I caught the left-front wheel-speed sensor dropping out while the other three continued reading normally. The faulty aftermarket sensor was replaced with an OEM replacement sourced through GM.

We also replaced the upstream and downstream O₂ sensors with OEM replacements. During removal, the downstream sensor pulled some material from the exhaust threads, so the threads were carefully chased and cleaned before the new sensor was installed.

This 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS 3.6L came into Clark’s Garage with a lack-of-power/stalling complaint and a P135A Ignition Coil Supply Voltage fault.

At first, we found visible damage to the ignition-coil wiring and connector. That was repaired — and the Blazer immediately ran significantly better.

But the code came back.

Instead of throwing coils, sensors, modules, or other expensive parts at it, the testing continued.

What we found was much deeper than the original damaged connector: excessive resistance and additional failures developing inside the engine wiring harness itself.

As the deteriorated harness was disturbed during testing, additional ignition circuits began dropping out — eventually leaving the vehicle with a crank/no-start condition and confirming just how compromised the harness had become.

The fix? A replacement engine wiring harness.

Jobs like this are exactly why a trouble code shouldn’t automatically equal a parts replacement. A code tells you where to start testing — not what part to replace.

🔧 MISFIRE DIAGNOSIS AT CLARK’S GARAGE 🔧

This Malibu came in with a check-engine light and a cylinder #3 misfire. Instead of guessing and replacing parts, I started with proper diagnosis and inspection.

The cause became pretty clear — the #3 spark plug wire was completely severed. While inspecting the rest of the ignition system, I found the neighboring plug wire damaged and partially cut through as well.

Both damaged wires were replaced, codes and misfire data were rechecked, and the Malibu was taken on a road test under load with the A/C and electrical accessories running.

✅ Ready to go back to the customer

🔧 MINI Cooper Suspension Repair — Clark’s Garage

This MINI Cooper came back in with a clunk/pop over bumps, so we got it back in the garage and tracked down the source.

The culprit: worn front sway bar end links.

These links were definitely ready to be replaced — during removal, the ball studs actually popped completely out of the worn sockets on both old links.

🔧 ANOTHER ONE FIXED AT CLARK’S GARAGE! 🔧

This Chevy Cobalt came in with an intermittent limp-mode/transmission issue that needed more than just throwing parts at it.

After going through the vehicle, scanning multiple modules, checking codes and transmission data, the problem was narrowed down to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

🔧 Check Engine Light Doesn’t Always Mean a Big Repair

Had a Chevy S-10 come back to Clark’s Garage after previous fuel-system repairs because the check-engine light had come on.

Instead of guessing or replacing more parts, I scanned the truck, checked the fault and went back through the system. The issue ended up coming down to the gas cap/EVAP system — not a failure of the previous repair.

Sometimes the diagnosis is a major repair. Sometimes it’s something simple. The important part is testing it and finding out before spending money on parts you don’t need.
