July Dev Night got a little nerdy in a good way.
Fred Lawler shared "Containers without Docker" and showed how much you can do with just Linux namespaces when you want a small, isolated place to try something out.
We have the rewind up on YouTube if you want to follow along with the talk and slides from home. https://youtu.be/8ltAFvURKRo
We do Dev Night on the first Wednesday of every month at the efactory, pizza and a talk. See you at the next one, August 5th!

July is almost here, and we are welcoming Fred Lawler back to the efactory for Dev Night!
You all made him our top rated speaker in 2025, and his “So you wanna load and execute a binary” talk keeps winning the YouTube race.
Fred's back with Containers without Docker, a talk about containers at the OS level and how to use them for rapid prototyping.
Free event, open to everyone, pizza included!
RSVP so we grab plenty of slices, thanks!! https://www.meetup.com/sgfdevs/events/315231374/

Dev Night is back this Wednesday, and you won’t want to miss it!
Shay Nehmad is joining us (virtually) to give us all the nitty gritty details of the internals of git. He'll also be using an interactive Capture-The-Flag challenge where you'll use git commands to advance. There will be prizes for the winners of the challenge!
This event is free, pizza is provided, and all skill levels are welcome. You can join us in person at efactory or watch the live stream on Twitch at sgfdevs.
RSVP on Meetup, then join us at efactory or watch live on Twitch!

This upcoming Dev Night with Shay Nehmad will also include a hands-on workshop. We'll be starting earlier than usual to allow for enough time. Make sure to be there at 6:00!
After the talk, you’ll jump into a Capture-The-Flag challenge built around Git. You’ll move through each stage by using Git commands to uncover clues and unlock what’s next, so you’re actually practicing what you just learned.
Whether you are new to Git or just want to level up, this is a great time to experiment, problem solve, and maybe break a few things along the way.
There is no cost to attend, and pizza is provided. All experience levels are welcome.

Next Dev Night we are unpacking the bigger picture behind Git with Shay Nehmad.🤖
We are excited to welcome Shay, who will be flying in from San Francisco, to talk about the bigger picture behind Git. If you have ever felt like you are just typing commands without understanding how Git actually works, this talk will connect the dots.
You’ll hear about the design philosophy and core ideas that shape how Git works today. This will also be a Capture-The-Flag challenge where you’ll actively participate, experiment, and sharpen your skills in real time.
This is a free event, pizza provided, and everyone’s welcome. Come hang out, learn something new, and meet other people who enjoy building good software.
