For our last Hope in Action project for the summer we made 174 peanut butter and jam sandwiches for Helping Hands. Thanks to all those who helped.

Francie and Will helped to receive a check from the Fat Ass 5K for Art Express. Art Express is a partnership between SIU’s Smith Alzheimer’s Center and UIS. Participants can express themselves creatively without needing memory or verbal communication skills. Hope has hosted Art Express for many years.

Some of the pets remembered at our ceremony Sunday afternoon. Names were written on sticks and candles lit for missing fur and feather family members. Thanks to Leah Steiner for her reflection on grief and grieving. We hope to make this an annual event.
