Textile Tuesday is back!

A beautiful room rarely comes from choosing each element separately. It comes from seeing how the entire material story works together.

For this palette, we layered warm wood flooring, dimensional wallpaper, richly textured upholstery and window-treatment fabrics in deep blue, olive, berry and chocolate brown. The colors repeat throughout the collection, but the patterns, textures and scale change—giving the room depth without making it feel overly coordinated.

Our favorite detail may be the unexpected berry tone. It keeps the blues, greens and browns from feeling too predictable.

A lower level reimagined...

The existing space included a pool table the homeowners no longer needed and a traditional bar configuration that didn’t suit the way their family wanted to use the lower level. Rather than creating another full bar, we designed a stylish, functional kitchen and beverage space for everyday family use, entertaining and convenient access to their new outdoor living space.

One challenge with this project was working around the existing support beams and ceiling structure within the former bar. We intentionally lowered the ceiling over the new kitchen to conceal several structural elements while creating a more intimate space within the otherwise open lower level.

A custom, open-sided built-in was designed around two vertical support beams, transforming necessary structural elements into an architectural focal point that provides storage while allowing light and views to pass through.

The finished lower level now feels sophisticated, comfortable and cohesive, with distinct areas for relaxing, gathering, dining and entertaining.
