[FIELD TRIP] Big news for the next 10 days! 🎪🌵

​We are taking the show on the road! Starting this Thursday, you can find us set up inside the cool AC at the E-Plex for the Ozark Empire Fair for 10 straight days! TRUST--we will have A LOT more plants than this!

​Because we are going all-out for the fair, our main storefront will be closed this weekend. But do not worry, you still have plenty of ways to get your plant fix!

​🎪 At the Ozark Empire Fair (E-Plex): Thursday through next week! We will gladly hold your plants at our booth while you wander so you don't have to carry them around.

[Local Love] High Tide Theatrical needed a little floral magic! 🎭💐

​When our friends at High Tide Theatrical reached out needing iconic yellow tulips for their production of God of Carnage, we were thrilled to jump in and supply the botanical stars of the show! 🌿✨

​I was lucky enough to catch an early preview, and let me tell you—I loved every single second of it! It is hilarious, tense, and packed with incredible local talent. If you love razor-sharp comedy and supporting Springfield’s arts scene, you have to go see it.

[Plant School] Cacti Month: Why Are Some Cacti Rocking the "Hairy" Look? 🦙🌵

​If you’ve wandered through the greenhouse lately, you’ve probably spotted a few cacti that look less like desert plants and more like they desperately need a trip to the barbershop (we're looking at you, Old Man Cactus!).

​While it looks hilarious, that fluffy white hair isn't just a bold fashion statement. It’s actually a brilliant, high-tech survival suit!

​Here is why some cacti are rocking the hairy look:

​Built-In SPF ☀️ – Those white "hairs" (highly modified spines called trichomes) act as a built-in sunshade, reflecting harsh UV rays away from the plant's skin so it doesn't get a nasty cactus sunburn.

​A Cozy Blanket 🧣 – Deserts freeze at night. That thick coat of hair traps a layer of air right against the cactus's body, acting like a cozy fleece jacket to keep them warm when the temperature drops.
