Social Security recipients could get a nearly 4% cost-of-living adjustment, forecasters say 05/28/2026

📢 Social Security Announces Projected 2027 COLA Increase
Good news for beneficiaries: SSA is projecting a 3.9% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2027, based on early inflation estimates. If this holds, it would be the 3rd-largest increase in the past decade. Medicare Part B premiums are also expected to rise, from $202.90 to $218.60 per month.

Both figures are early estimates and could change as final numbers are set in late October or early November 2027.

SSA sets COLA each year under federal law using the CPI-W inflation index. For official updates, see SSA COLA Information.

Social Security recipients could get a nearly 4% cost-of-living adjustment, forecasters say A larger COLA would boost monthly checks for retirees, but also strain Social Security's already depleted trust funds.
